Say we get Cesaro versus Roman for the title. If the desire is Roman versus Rock, or Goldberg, or some other part-timer not currently around at 'Mania or some other show, then Cesaro could not hope for a long title reign. My mind goes to the plight of Lex Luger. He did win the world title when Flair left WCW, beating Barry Windham for the vacant title, but when people hear "Luger" and "world title", they tend to think of three situations, two of which were similar enough to be thrown together.
Situation one: Luger faced Flair for the NWA title when Sting was injured. Flair had made up his mind to make Sting, and had no intention of dropping the title to anyone else, so they did an awful ending where a referee called off the match due to Luger bleeding. A bit rich considering Flair usually looked like he went bobbing for cranberry sauce after title matches, but whatever, refs care about bleeding this time.
Of course, the other time was Luger's countout "win" against Yokozuna. Vince felt that waiting to give Luger the title would make the win mean more, but lost faith and interest in Luger in favor of Bret before then. The ending was so strange for a Summerslam, traditionally WWF's second biggest show, that a number of fans even bought into urban legends of Luger spoiling the ending and Vince changing it. No, it was just bad writing.
Situation two:
Hollywood Hogan lost the title to Lex Luger in what was a genuinely cool moment. It was short-lived, with Hogan winning the title back, but it was a short reprieve from nWo domination before Sting and later Goldberg would also only really give short reprieves, too. You know, in retrospect, he didn't make out so bad.
Anyway, I don't think either of these is a fabulous option, but of the two, a palette cleanser reign would really help keep cut the tedium down. I also tend to think it's better to have briefly won a title than to choke. I think it's probably too late to have Cesaro as a full-on main eventer, but he really needs to graduate out of the US/IC title tier. This company desperately needs credible faces right now across the board, but especially main eventers.

I mean, the fact it’s even a possibility that he could win it and it’s completely believable and not a complete and utter arsepull, is a miracle in itself. Dude’s career has been in the toilet so many times, and every time he’s somehow managed to shake it off.

Dude’s career has been in the toilet so many times, and every time he’s somehow managed to shake it off. I normally would think that he wouldn't, but Lashley winning the title suggested WWE is open to some breaks from the norm. Beyond that, I don't think even WWE would think Roman can make this last until 'Mania or something. Someone's got to beat him, and Cesaro's a better option than most, especially since it's not like ticket sales matter right now, and WWE can't really care that much about ratings. They really have nothing to lose rolling the dice on him. If he doesn't win it, I guess they could surprise us with something like Nakamura or Big E, but Cesaro's in a better position at the moment.

I don't want to see Big E do it. I just don't buy him as a main eventer.
Cesaro wouldn't be too bad but I'd like to see Nakamura beat Roman.

He needs to win it, even if he only holds it for a month or two. Feel good moments are hard to come by with this company these days and Cesaro winning would be one.

I want it, as I think he is one of the most deserving to get a title run, but if it happens, I predict it will be a "Christian" reign.

It would be cool if he got it but lost shortly after. Would be nice.
But honestly I see him almost winning and losing. Maybe he takes out Jey and just before he wins Jimmy returns and stops him. Who knows.

Let Cesaro win it at Backlash because this reign is starting to get long in the tooth and dragging it out to Summerslam if not longer will completely kill any and all praise Roman has gotten for this run so far just out of people being sick of him.
He needs even a brief moment without the belt let the audience have a happy moment especially after Daniel lost.

If I had to guess at this point, Cesaro wins due to either Bryan interference, or Bryan negating Uso interference.

Cesaro has the same chances of winning the title that Jey Uso had months ago. Almost zero.

If they want the feud to continue at least 3 PPVs, I could maybe see him winning the middle match. I guess it would depend to me most on what the WWE is thinking in regards to Roman's match at Summerslam will be.

He'll potentially win, but he wont pin or submit Roman. It'll be DQ if anything.
Roman's holding that title for a good while yet.

Replicate Summerslam 93 - Luger vs Roman's cousin Yoko Only if Cesaro goes cross country on a bus And throws Roman out the ring with a swing leading to a count out victory. Cesaro then gets confetti and hoisted on face wrestlers shoulders like a mook.

He needs even a brief moment without the belt let the audience have a happy moment especially after Daniel lost. If Cesaro wins, it benefits him, Roman, the company and the fans with a feel-good moment. If Roman wins, nobody gains anything. Including Roman himself. Still very possible the company just sticks with Roman but an upset, a brief title run, seems like the best case scenario here.

Only if Cesaro goes cross country on a bus He IS a Real American, after all. I know it would make no sense at this point but I wish they would start using the Real Americans theme for Cesaro again. It fit him oddly well especially after he would win after an awesome feat of strength like Cesaro Swinging Great Khali or bodyslamming Big Show over the top rope to win the ATGMBR at WM 30. It just had that sound of heroic triumph to it that made those moments even more cooler.
