He's been putting on size lately and seems to be carrying himself differently. I think if you unleash him as a heel in the IC Title division, he could have some AWESOME matches with Shinsuke. Same if he went to RAW and had a rivalry with Priest.

One thing I find very interesting about Ford is how well he plays the role of undersized plucky face while not actually being undersized. He's 6 foot 1, which is the same height as two guys we view as "somewhat tall" in Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn. He'll never go eye to eye with a Drew McIntyre, but he's taller than the more well known main event level undersized plucky guys like Daniel Bryan or Shawn Michaels (or Rey, obviously).

So last year Montez Ford was booked to go straight one on one legit with Roman Reigns on TV, and this summer, he's the first man outside of Bobby Lashley to knock down Omos, to the point where the Usos rescued the big man from being pinned.
Booking loves this man.
And so they should.

Dude's a freak athlete and has the skills to be a big player, but holy hell is his gimmick obnoxious and it does genuinely hold me back on the guy. A year later and honestly the same problem still persists, he is a money talent and he should get pushed, but "The guy who scream sings every other word" is so god damn grating, he desperately needs to evolve his gimmick, not even in a grand way imo, but enough where he's no longer "The crazy one" of his tag team, cause he's still there.

I think that’s what makes him unique and entertaining, character-wise. Definitely could be a future main eventer.

I hate The Street Profits and their shtick so I just don't agree I find them atrociously obnoxious and it's been the same shit for like three years. I think Montez needs to become a bit more than that character wise, he can still be unique and not make me roll my eyes, but the same goes for Dawkins. Just don't feel it. That's nothing against their raw talent though, especially Montez. Then again WWE will take that as me saying "Put him in bland ass black trunks and make him more serious like Madcap Moss" because there's no middle ground lol

And not liking the Profits? They’re fantastic, they’ve essentially built them up as a main event act already. Usos vs. Profits could legitimately main event a PPV without seeming out of place. They’re on that Usos, New Day, Bucks level now.

I legit thought this was a new thread and was wondering what the hell I missed on Raw that Apollo was Intercontinental champion again. That's what I get for browsing the board before my coffee has kicked in.

He’s like Big E where I wouldn’t change nothing about him to send him up to the main event. Both of them represent diff aspects of African American culture without being the angry black man. They are unique and whole in themselves and you love to see it

He is the worst. I want to throw a cup of beer at him and I don't even drink. Montez Ford makes me pretend to drink, that's how much he is the worst.
Potentially great look, very athletic, but every move, every word feels so forced energetic that Mojo Rawley thinks Ford should relax a bit.

People love him, he's talented and looks the part. They should just pull the trigger and let him win MITB or the Rumble. He doesn't need to get more serious. I'm so tired of serious. He's fine as he is today.

I've been saying it... dude has all the tools to be a massive star. But it's the WWE and they have a "great" track record with can't miss prospects... I will again what this charmingly handsome poster said <_<

I think they'll get the big win at Summerslam and have a decent length reign. Their previous reign was 99% in front of no fans during the worst days of the pandemic so they're overdue a proper run.
After that I definitely think it'll be time to give solo Montez a try. 2023 MITB winner could be the way to go.

I think the last live show I watched was Survivor Series 2020 and Ford's promo there gave me goosebumps in the sense I felt like I was watching the next guy form right in front of me. It's a little disappointing to hear he's the still hanging around on the cusp of it.

I would book him so that he fares well in singles matches against top guys, but ultimately loses. Then have him feud with Kevin Owens who brings up the fact that everyone keeps talking about how great Montez is and how he’s the next big thing, but all he does is lose. Build to a big PPV match where Montez….loses to Owens. It’ll give him experience on the upper mid-card as a singles guy.
Have him tease a little attitude while he goes back to teaming with Dawkins. Make it seem like he’s going to be the one that turns on Dawkins, but have Dawkins turn on him. Montez gets his revenge, beating Dawkins in a singles match on PPV, which shows that he can actually win. Have him slowly go from underdog who couldn’t win the big one, to confident star in the making.
At next year’s Money in the Bank, it seems like Kevin Owens is going to win it when Montez (who’s also in the match) beats him to the punch. Sets up a huge SummerSlam rematch against Owens, who Montez beats, solidifying his main event status and legitimate threat as Mr. Money in The Bank.

That could work when done well but WWE has a real crappy record when it comes to losing streak pushes. Most likely result is Vince sees a dog pooping one day and he forgets about the push halfway. Leaving Ford as a guy who lost to all the big stars and then went back to his tag team.

He needs to be given a chance but I just don't see him as a can't miss talent. He needs to get over without this current gimmick and he needs to show more flexibility character wise.
