My dude from The West Wing definitely has that 'hey man, I just want what's best for everyone' fake-ass politician thing down pat.

45 hours in, I legit can't remember the last time I've been this emotionally invested in a game. This has absolutely lived up to expectations.

My PS5 being a full hoe. Got to get this shit repaired since I can't play shit more than an hour or 2 hours before it cuts off so I haven't been able to get into the game like I wanted

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}"Loki will go. Atreus will remain." Me: What an incredible experience this game was. An engrossing, poignant story about not letting your past mistakes define you and using those experiences to become better because of them. There is also a magically kept alive severed head that at one point calls Odin "the All-f***er" so there really is something for everyone. Highly recommended.

Main story is finished and the cleanup begins. I didn't think it was possible for it to happen, but I honestly think this may have surpassed Elden Ring as my Game of the Year.

I forgot how goddamn ruthless Kratos used to be. Ripped a dude's head off with his bare hands to use him as a lantern.

Mimir would be the one thing I would carry in to future God of War games, he's a high spot of both Norse games. I forgot how goddamn ruthless Kratos used to be. Ripped a dude's head off with his bare hands to use him as a lantern. cut off one guy's legs just to get his boots, ripped the soul out of someone leaving him be consumed by the tortured souls in hell, impales a father on a giant smithing anvil tip after cuckaulding him (if you do the mini game.) while looking for the guy's daughter to kill the flame of Olympus, beats his half-brother to death after stealing his metal gauntlets, snaps his stepmother's neck, allows a mortal to be squished in the middle of a giant maze cube being reformed, cuts his way out of a giant after being swallowed, stabs a guy with a large sword and at the same time stabs another giant in the heart, and finally beats his father to death three different times (he got better twice.). oh and put his thumbs through another guy's skull and fiddled with his brain. and all because he had the hangover from hell.

I liked how the game critiqued its own writing: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Norn: Should I bring him a crown then? he still slays God's but now he's sad about it?

I like how Kratos tells the story of a man that made a box containing all the world's evils and used his daughter as the key as an uplifting way to talk about how parents sacrifice for their children without mentioning that he killed the box maker after sleeping with his wife.

Finally got started with this last night; was not expecting such emotional damage in the first hour. {Spoiler}Goddamn game had me misty-eyed over a wolf I'd known for all of 30 seconds. RIP Fenrir, you were a good boy. And then the bit with the bear cubs afterward...gaaaaaaah.

I do love this game (and reboot series), but there are a couple of things I have to mention to be fair:
1). They way overdid it with the 'squeeze yourself between cracks' bit. There has to be at least 20 of these.
2). The NPCs giving you hints 10 seconds after arriving at a puzzle. Seems to me they could have just had a prompt that asks if you want a hint or not.
3). This was the same with the first game, but they make this expansive, beautiful world, but the game makes sure you can only go the exact way they want you to go. So there's sections where you can't go anywhere because you just can't.
But overall, I really enjoyed the experience.

I was in the US when it was released and had to wait to get back home last week to start playing, so I’m a bit behind everyone else. This may have been discussed already (I’m not clicking on any spoilers here until I’m done with the main game) but… {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Does anyone else think the game drags a bit during the Atreus sections? I understand it’s a way to discuss the plot of the game by making his bits more about story than fighting and it’s a nice alternative to the usual combat but some sections go on a bit too long for me.

The game is loading everything on the opposite side of the hallways. The number of them may be a consequence of the game being on both PS4 and PS5. For point 2, I’ve heard this complaint before, and personally, if they didn’t, many of the puzzles would have taken me significantly longer to figure out. It’s apparently an accessibility thing, but yeah, the option to ask for a hint would be nice. I have nothing to say about point 3.

I think Tom Cruise had to go through the same thing.

It was nice of the game to dump the most interesting and diverse exploration segment at the last third of the game.

I've heard that they're actually to trap the player in, so they can't escape the fights the game is setting up.
