Been busy for the past few days, so nothing done. Still setting up a world I'd like to embark on.
Really want a volcano where I set up fort.
Magma is handy. It provides infinite fuel, after all. No need for charcoal or coke to heat things up: melting anything is possible, glassmaking is infinite as long as you go for green glass, etc. You'll only need fuel for certain things; pearlash making for clear and crystal glass, making pig iron and steel.
Of course, magma can also be made as a defense mechanism for sieges. Few creatures are immune to lava, and if you have a river nearby you can also kill everything by submerging them into magma, then releasing the water to encase creatures into obsidian.
