I remember distinctly his debut. I was home making my dinner and their opening with Cody's open challenge. I'm going about my business and all of a sudden I hear a familiar voice. I couldn't quite place it, but I KNEW that voice. I come into the room and have the absolute biggest mark out I have ever had for a debut to see EDDIE KINGSTON standing there challenging Cody!
I grew up on Chikara (the only noteworthy indy to ever come to my home town) so this meant a LOT to me seeing Kingston on a major wrestling TV program. I am so happy with how far he's gone.

Eddie is that guy you thought was out of chances and out of opportunities, but there's a new fire in him and he's finally got that stable money and that big stage opportunity. Hearing a roaring crowd mark the f*** out for him is just tremendous.

After watching Eddie cut a great promo on Cody, and others,at a ICW NHB event last year I was hoping he would finally get a shot in the big leagues. Glad he has. Kingston has been great for years now. And should have been working in a big fed since at least 2015.

And should have been working in a big fed since at least 2015. One of the things that stuck with me was the follow up ICW show ended up having Kingston pulled due to his AEW obligations, and even the commentators on the show were so happy that they lost their big draw for the absolute right reason. That's how you know Kingston is uber-respected.

It still blows my mind that Eddie had a run in late TNA/early Impact and that they didn’t hang on to him (Callis played that up well when he cut a promo on Kingston a little while ago). You’d think all anyone would have to do is listen to him speak and book “just let him rip, it’ll be good”.
And I still love that the feeling he generates when he shows up is that one relative who shows up for Sunday dinner where you either go “oh nice, Uncle Eddie’s here!” or “oh SHIT, Uncle Eddie’s here”, depending on how work went for him that week.

Maybe it's just me, but I wish they'd call his finisher the Backfist to the Future.

Maybe it's just me, but I wish they'd call his finisher the Backfist to the Future. It's interesting how some CHIKARA Move names have stuck around even in AEW (Awful Waffle, Beach Break) but Backfist to the Future sadly has not. I do like when Excalibur shouts "THE URAKEN!" though

I’d be fine with him if he’d cool it with the “we’re such renegades and that other company is so prissy and kiddified “ nonsense. I don’t think he’s disgracing the business when he does it, I just find it pretentious, sorry.

I do like when Excalibur shouts "THE URAKEN!" though Aja Kong was in the company first.

I remember seeing him on NWA Power back when it was on Youtube, & was super impressed with his charisma. When he debuted on AEW I thought he was great, & hoped he would get a shot at showing what he could do. I remember going into the Moxley 'I Quit' match, the smarky side of me thought Mox wouldn't drop the belt, but Kingston's promo had me convinced he would rather die in that ring than give up. What a star.

Will always be glad that Eddie has gotten a legit shot. I think anybody who followed King knows that he was his own worst enemy, but he can say at the end he was able to get over his own way

He was great as a heel & he is even better as a face. Hasn't put a foot wrong since his debut. Instantly makes everything more believable which in today's wrestling world is such a rare commodity.

It's truly the amazing happenstance that got King into AEW. If he didn't think he blew his WWE try out he wouldn't have signed with Impact... and would have likely signed with the WWE when they called him. It's great to see Kingston in the big leagues, seemingly with his head on straight... since for years it seemed like Eddie was his own worst enemy.

Backfist to the future is a pretty jokey name for someone that acts pretty damned serious most of the time. as wonderful as a name as it is.
