Apparently there is a new wrestling drama series on Starz that starts this week. Small town southern rasslin with soap opera drama. Been seeing ads on the wrestling stuff I watch on YT. Anyone watch the first episode yet? I haven't but I imagine its gonna be alot of explaining basic things so I'll give it two episodes to see if I'll stick with it

Saw it tonight. Can’t believe there isn’t another thread on this somewhere. Very enjoyable and enough happened to bring me back next week. However, something about it feels very dated.

I'm sorta confused about what they're going for here...the ending really makes it come off stupid as hell... My wife said it reminded her of a CW show with the opening credits....

I was actually referring to fictitious indy promotion and politics as somewhat dated not the show in of itself. Like I can't buy that type of promotion existing today. Present day high school gym shows feel more up to date.

Only seen the promo shots that Amell and Ludwig posted on Instagram.
From what I've seen, I love that Stephen Amell kinda resembles White bread Cody and Alexander Ludwig looks like Edge.

Stephen Amell plays the main character and he's a big wrestling fan. Other people in this show include CM Punk and James Harrison (yes, the James Harrison who played for the Steelers).
Heard some real glowing reviews about the pilot. Makes me wish I still had Starz.

Gotcha...the line about maybe one day competing with "up north" just kinda made me throw my hands up and wonder truly what the hell were they going for with this fictionalized indy...

They should make a cookie gate episode Wait, you mean it isn't about shoe fashion? If such a show exists would this show have to change it’s title?

I’m mindblown that this is created by Michael Waldron who wrote Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Just found out it’s going to stream on Stan in Australia so I’ll definitely check it out.

Yeah the previews looked kinda corny, and some of the show was, but overall it was enjoyable and better than I thought. Amell does a pretty good job as the lead. The show was interesting enough for me to want to keep watching onto the second episode, which doesn't happen with a lot of current TV. I'm curious how a non-wrestling fan will react to some of the insider wrestling stuff. Hopefully it does well, it's got potential for sure.

Saw that Luke Hawx worked doing stunts and ring training people for the show. Got the first EP on the DVR.

I couldn't make it through the whole episode.
Its supposed to be the modern day, but the wrestling scene appears to be the early 80's territories.
And I have nothing against southern accents, but I can't watch a tv show where everyone has one.

Help me understand the issue, not trying to attack, just curious.
