The Old Man and The Sea, Heart of Darkness, and Moby Dick are the most incredibly boring things I ever read

Stephan King is best left to the movies. He’s famous for a reason but I can’t stand his books. I’ve never successfully finished one. Great stories, but the man needs an editor. Yes! Have you tried any of his short stories? Soooooo much more enjoyable. I have Rita Hayworth as a stand alone novella. It was very good.

The Dark Tower falls off a cliff after Blaine. Wizard was a chore to get through and Wolves even worse. I tapped out.
I heard Song of Susannah is even more boring.
Its a shame because Wastelands and the Blaine section is some of the best and most intense and exciting things I've read.

The Old Man and The Sea, Heart of Darkness, and Moby Dick are the most incredibly boring things I ever read Remove Heart of Darkness and replace it with The Scarlet Letter and I agree. We had to read Scarlet LEtter in AP English my senior year. The class was small, like 10 of us in there, the teacher decided to read it aloud to the class. She read for about 20 minutes, looked up and the entire class was asleep.

The latter two Song of Ice and Fire books sucked ass. Honestly? I think they all kinda suck, which was a big part of why I stayed away from the TV show for so long.

I don't care for Harry Potter. Never read the books, never saw the films nor do I ever plan to. Just do not appeal to me.

George RR Martin is a better book editor than writer. And I wish he would do more Wild Cards Mosiac novels.
The Hardcore Truth is the best wrestler bio so far.

I loved the first 2 Hunger Games but borderline hated the 3rd one.

Rum Punch is a fun book but Tarantino improved it with the Jackie Brown adaptation.

The Spy Who Loved Me is Ian Fleming’s best James Bond novel despite Bond only being in it for the last third of the book.

The Wheel of Time series is a boring slog.
The Witcher books are poorly written and repetitive.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is probably one of the worst books ever written.
Gravity's Rainbow is a great book to read if you want to punish the ever-loving shit out of yourself.
On the Road is really, really bad.

I loved the first 2 Hunger Games but borderline hated the 3rd one. It lost the whole hook of the series--The Hunger Games and just became a generic YA book about a bunch of bland characters overthrowing a dictatorship. Actually, thats a trend most YA series have actually. Losing the interesting hook early on in the series.

Catcher In The Rye is the drizzling shits & Holden Caulfield f***ing sucks.
I get he is supposed to be suffering PTSD due to his dead brother but he is just an asshole.

So I actually enjoy SKs long books, specifically Pet Semetary, Delores Claiborne and Under the Dome
As for my MAIN unpopular opinion: Agatha Christie has amazing mysteries but if I had to rank the ones I've read, short or long, Orient Express is actually towards the bottom

Harry Potter is meant for children. The fact that adults got so obsessed with it is one of the things that marked an undeniable downturn in our society by glorifying and normalizing not growing as a person beyond a middle school mindset. It started a disgusting trend of adults robbing children of their entertainment by forcing their own preferences and skewed opinions on shit never meant for them. Watching grown people line up at midnight outside of a bookstore to purchase a children's book for themselves was when I started giving up hope for this country. It's a physical representation of the willful lack of maturity and growth that has caused us to regress as a people.
Take that above statement, and replace Harry Potter with Hunger Games or My Little Pony, and the point still stands.

William Shakespeare is a good writer if you update the dialogue. The original text is hard to read.

Agreed, but Harry Potter is where it really seemed to become the norm, and we have never really recovered.

The Fight Club movie is superior to the book as far as being a palatable experience, even if it misses a lot. I hate everything I have ever read by Dickens. I thought I was the only one! I HATE Dickens with a violent passion.
