I'll do the same Devils Advocate as I always do the multiple times this thread has been made. Which black wrestler should be at the top of the card based purely on their talent and not just because of their race? I would say Dante Martin. That kid has a truckload of talent. And when his brother gets back, they should be one of the faces of the Tag Team division. He's going to get a push - but he should be nowhere near the top of the card just yet. He's impressive in the ring, sure, no doubt there - but it takes much more than that. And it takes time too. |

I mean, this is the same AEW that has had the likes of QT Marshall, 2.0, and Daniel Garcia at the top of the card not too long ago. Among other young talent. If we don't question them, why question the black wrestlers? I don't think any of the above could be considered 'at the top of the card'. QT had a fairly prominent feud with Cody, but even that was more to build up the match with Ogogo and since then he's lost basically every high profile match he's been in. Same for 2.0 and Garcia (who while we're at it, is a 'person of colour' not to mention a wrestling prodigy), while they've been put in prominent positions recently, they've not exactly been on a winning streak, nor have they had the show built around them. |

From what I've seen he's great in the ring, although I don't know what his promo ability is like. I could see a cocky heel champion giving him a one off title shot and him playing the plucky underdog who comes up short in the end, but that's about it for right now until they build him up some more. |

Eddie is latino and he has a fair shot in beating Miro for the TNT title at the NYC show imo.
Lee Moriaty is a hot prospect, given how a lot of the roster are busy, I would put him with Men of the Year(He has a MMA background right?) even if he renders Scorpio to be the Brian Cage of the group.

A lot of people from southern and eastern Europe are just swarthy; Bulgaria's not an edge case like Albania or Turkey. I understand this literally makes AEW's top-of-card diversity worse but it's an important misconception to clear up because a lot of people seem to be under the impression he's not 'white', however you want to approach that term. |

If we go with POC wrestlers: Eddie, both Lucha Bros, Scorpio, multiple NJPW wrestlers, Sammy, and I'm probably forgetting a few. But when it comes to black male wrestlers, all I can think of is Scorpio. In terms of younger white wrestlers? The list is heavy. I like Darby, Jungle Boy, MJF, etc. But if you're saying there are no black wrestlers currently that can't be at their level or higher if given the shot, you're not looking. Or worse, if you have this idea that there's a talent gap between black and white wrestlers... I'll leave it at you're not looking to stay in forum rules. |

AEW should be elevating more black singles talent. That's the #1 thing I'd like to see them actively work towards more right now.
Also, Scorpio Sky should have stayed face.
And Suge D/Pineapple Pete should be brought back to be a regular fixture again.

I dunno, I think outside of the world title holders (of which there have been only three reigns, remember), the company is plenty diverse. Lucha Bros just beat the seemingly unbeatable tag champions in an all-time great cage match, Andrade is almost certainly gonna' be an upper midcarder/main eventer if he can connect with the crowd, Hobbs and Starks are feuding with Punk, Eddie Kingston is a permanent upper carder and is the designated "send the crowd home happy" guy, Sammy Guevara is clearly one of the future pillars of the company, every women's champion other than the current one has been non-white and Thunder Rosa, a proud Mexican, is almost certainly going to be the one to dethrone Britt. Hell, the biggest heel in AEW (and arguably all of wrestling) is a Jew who's open about his religion but doesn't work a stereotypical gimmick.

Yep, it hasn't. And I have to say something kinda controversial about that. The guy they wanted to push into that role was mid, and I think that didn't help matters. Scorpio Sky was not the guy to push into a main event scene. Scorpio is an odd case, and I seem to like him more than most people on this board. He was one half of the 1st Tag team champs. He was the first person to challenge Jericho for the World Title. For the first year and a half or so they featured him pretty regularly and would give him vignettes trying to get over his character. So they really seemed to have faith in him early on Then at some point he stopped associating with SCU, had a seemingly never ending feud with Shawn Spears before turning heel. I actually think the Men of the Year are a good act and I want to see where they go with Lambert as their mouth piece, although don't seem to be in contention for the tag titles right now. |

I think Hobbs is going to do big things for AEW. They are doing a great job of slowly building him up. Ricky Starks too. Everything about him just screams 'star'.

I honestly don't understand how any singles wrestler can possibly be elevated at ALL with this roster. Every level is so clogged, who could move up?
The simplest thing is to treat tag team championship stuff as true main-event matches. YB vs Lucha Bros didn't feel less important than Cage vs Omega to anyone in the audience, did it? There's no reason you couldn't have switched the order.

As an aside, do you really think if someone like Big E had been released instead of say, Malakai, that AEW wouldn't have immediately rolled out the red carpet for him? |
