I’ll be the first to admit, the show was a dumpster fire besides the wedding……….but call me entertained. Totally getting a wwf 1995 vibe with all these new random dudes who you have no reason to care about or to hate just being thrown out there. You get second generation dudes like the Steiner kid and Cal bloom just getting horrendous names and no real mention of them being second generation even though but dudes resemble their fathers to an almost scary extent!
You got two generic looking “creed” brothers in the most boring/ not flattering Ill fitting singlets, who might be more pale that Jack Gallagher out there trying to be put across as monsters, when one looks like ur average older brother, and the other one looks like he was an overweight kid who hit the weights and started wrestling and lost weight but still is shaped weird. Nothing intimidating or special about them at all
Random mob guy vignette! Random psychodelic colors
I’m sure it’ll be a complete dumpster fire and within the next 6 months I see a lot of the NXT stars (Garganno, ciampa,) etc etc more than likely leaving or taking reduced roles…the ratings will be trash but call me intrigued.
If truely feels like FCW/developmental again

It was fine. But I only joined in halfway through around the time of the Carmelo Hayes promo, so what the hell did I miss for it to be a dumpster fire?

I've said for months that NXT either needed to fully embrace being developmental or become an equal third brand but the in between stuff just wasn't going to work. At the end of the day, fairly or unfairly, it is viewed that the guys Triple H wanted to push recently in NXT were viewed as failures. No matter who was at fault because they could not draw in fans unless they did a special show meant that the third brand was never going to happen.
I will keep saying this but I do find it admirable that Vince, Bruce, Johnny Ace, whoever Made the call and said these are the wrestlers we want to be developed. Develop them. It's gonna be rough around the edges cause many of the talent just are insanely raw so naturally the quality in ring will go down.
HOWEVER, and I say this as a huge AEW supporter that has been very critical of WWE... I think this was the right move for WWE as a whole. The disconnect between NXT and WWE was just causing too many issues.
And honestly I legit did get early NXT vibes overall. We shall see it works long term... but a lot of people will see this as a slap in the face

I think there are flashes of a workable retool here, but 1), everything is so bright and clean that it just looks lifeless, 2), the random paint splatters flashing across TVs spread all throughout the arena including backstage was unbelievably distracting, and 3), the show dragged like f***ing crazy because there were a million segments of random heatless nobodies just being plopped out there like they were already established names and all of them were over too quickly for you to get any kind of investment in any of it. And also it felt like the main roster in terms of production and that is the exact polar opposite of a good thing.
There was a way to make this work but this was an awful first impression.

Of course but as NXT learned the moment you go onto network television you have to answer to more than just yourself. If USA wasn't on board with this. It wouldn't happen

That crowd died a death in the middle of the show too. Like NXT usually has very lively crowds but with how BRIGHT everything was you could tell how disinterested they got until the wedding and main event match. It was bad.

For now, you have to be big , have a beard or being a hot chick to win matches in the new NXT.
But, we'll see next week folks!!

In fairness the crowd has been pretty dead and disinterested outside of the rare exception for a while now. Now that being said, I do agree that with how bright everything was it made the crowd not giving a damn a lot more noticeable

Yep…that’s what I fear though is eventually it won’t be on USA anymore. I wouldn’t mind a weekly peacock show or something. We shall see what happens

NXT: The Next Generation huh....then this should be its theme filled with the roster doing random things in the background

It was the 1st week so of course seeing all these new guys is gonna suck, but in time they may be people we love to see. I really dug Steiner’s son. Ridge Holland is a future star if you ask me. Weird having Ciampa win the title, would have gone with Pete myself.

We shall see what happens Their deal is coming up soon and imo USA shouldn't renew it. They gave NXT a deal and an extra hour when it was the Super Indie trying to compete with/kill AEW... that plan failed and now it's a completely different show almost top to bottom. Almost with an identity crisis at the moment. It needs to get off air because it's quite the circus to behold on live television.

I often feel like I'm the one who's out of touch, so watch this actually get better ratings than the old NXT.
