But time isn't over yet, how do they know there won't be better songs someday?

I don't think any song I have to hear at every f***ing corny wedding or event should be the #10 song of all time, and while I don't even listen to too much hip-hop I know Outkast has better songs (Sorry Miss Jackson for one).

AVN is doing the 500 Greatest Schlongs of All-Time list. Think John Holmes or Ron Jeremy makes it? Or will cancel culture get them?

How the hell do you take nearly a century of recorded music and do a subjective top (insert a number a number amount here) ranking?
There are many things to consider when putting these together.. cultural significance, genre inventing, genre defining, public reception, record sales.. notice I didn’t add critical reception or awards won cause they don’t really mean shit at the time… isn’t that right 1991 Grammy Award Winning Album for Best Metal Performance Crest of the Knave by Jethro Tull?
It’s hard to make any list when you have to consider all that, plus all the genres, sub genres, across the generations, from all corners of the Earth. I don’t why they did this in a ranking system… I don’t think anyone will be agreement with whatever they come up, even if they research and poll the shit out if it.
What they should say is.. Here is 500 historically significant songs if you need ideas on what to add to your streaming library and why we think you should or should not.

That's an awful list.
Smells Like Teen Spirit isn't even in the top 5 Nirvana songs.

How many GG Allin songs were in this one compared to the 2004 list?

I've read through the list (mostly to find the Dusty Springfield entries), and unless I missed it Cannibal Corpse is not in the Top 500. It's completely irrelevant unless Killer Klowns from Outer Space by the Dickies shows up somewhere there. I love that movie and track!

So you did a list highlighting “world changing anthems” and you left out Gucci Gang and Gangnam Style from the top ten?
To hell with this.

I'm just amused Gasolina is the 50th greatest song.
I'm actually listening to all 500 songs on spotify currently, on Miles Davis, So What which is criminally only at 492.

I figured Yoko Ono would have 5 of the top ten songs for as much as Rolling Stone loves her

That's an awful list. Smells Like Teen Spirit isn't even in the top 5 Nirvana songs. I mean clearly but in terms of impact I can see why it’s so high up. It’s just one of those songs that has been absolutely played to death. I like Hey Ya! but again it’s been played to death and top 10? Come on now. Pleasantly surprised that Strawberry Fields is there and A Day In The Life isn’t. That song always gets the nod in lists like this but it’s never been a favourite. Strawberry Fields is awesome though.

Rolling Stone has repeatedly been criticised for largely being about dad rock and for ignoring hip hop, so it's like they've shoehorned in as much hip hop as they can without making themselves uncomfortable and gone "Look, we're cool now!" Obviously it's a nonsense list, but I expected nothing less.
That being said, it was a pleasant surprise to see "Waterloo Sunset" as high as it was.

But time isn't over yet, how do they know there won't be better songs someday? Nah..... I mean, by that logic, none of the songs on that list should chart anyway because of classical music. Can't short change genius not matter what time it blossoms.

I feel like this list should be filled with songs that you know just by heart reading the song title or hearing the first couple notes.
Robyn - 'Dancing on My Own"
Should not be the 20th greatest song all time...
