I'm a casual MMA watcher at best, but I can't stand this idiot. I was such a huge fan, but now..... he just can't get out of his own way. The only person to truly beat Jon Jones is Jon Jones.

With how UFC contracts work, its by fights, not by years. So if UFC releases the even carnier Bellator is gonna pick him up. I think UFC letting his talent waste without a fight is honestly perfect justice, I'd prefer jail but he always gets a slap on the wrist.

This company used to have the Midas touch when it came to marketing MMA stars like Lidell, Spider Silva, Cyborg, etc. I know Rousey has said questionable things and Brock can be crude, but I don’t remember them causing as much public headaches as Conor and Jones and yet Dana keeps backing them up based on their past victories. Their goodwill stock is like next to zero now, man. Did Shamrock ever get into this much trouble?

They run it like a business and not as a fighting organization unforunately

He's not even really been that big a draw for them to the level of the headache. Not like he's Conor, Brock, or Ronda.

Dana White is as usual an idiot. When asked about it he said something about how this is the fight game and crazy shit happens all the time, including all of the stuff that happens that the media doesn’t ever hear about.
admitting that he has a roster full of problem children isn’t exactly the best defense here.

You sign a deal for X amount of fights over X amount of time. And someone as high profile as Jones probably has some perks in his contract that would make it difficult to ice him. With all his issues with Dana I can’t imagine Jones ever agreeing to a deal where Dana would have the power to essentially end his career. I don’t think they’d have the ability to just send him home but keep him under contract, but this would absolutely break a morality clause and give them the power to cut him even with a guaranteed deal.

The only time he headlined as an A-side was 258 against Burns and the UFC never revealed the buys (traditionally a bad sign). The Masvidal KO converted a lot of people into fans though, so I’ll see the Colby numbers before we make a judgement on his drawing abilities.

My favorite thing is how he has been pretty clearly running test/HGH/whatever else and he stands up there during the face offs like some kind of tough guy. Dude is a joke all the way around.

From what I understand its by fights. UFC has to be the ones that let you out. But I could be wrong and you know they're not gonna cut him because of the morality clause, if you read what was in their morality clauses a lot of their fighters would be cut. And if Jones is released expect Bellator to make a play for him

I’m just saying, odds are he’s pretty contractually well protected from just freezing his contract. And, I’m pretty sure they’re contractually obligated to offer minimum 1 fight a year so unless he was actually in jail they would have to offer him fights or he could walk.

I do think the bigger consequence is him not fighting at all tho it's not like Dana is sitting him out tho. Dana has let him take his time with getting to HW besides the fact his f*** ups at LHW already

They pretty much plateaued around 2011ish to where it looked like it might be a big mainstream sport&through a combo of factors it's settled back into a real niche thing. You'll get blips like Ronda&Conor at their heights, but those are by necessity gonna be short-lived.

I look at that first Fox broadcast as the big f*** up Cain vs JDS was supposed to be some big slugfest they were hoping and Cain got KO'd in one min
