I believe the random fentanyl injection story as much as I believe those ones about people supposedly giving away their expensive weed candy to kids every year at Halloween, because that's not how drugs work.
For that matter, there's been a customer boycott of nightclubs in my city from girls getting spiked by people with needles, so I know that's not how it goes

Everything I have read points to the surge and the injector being unrelated. That somehow might be even scarier Yep. Stuff like this is why I have agoraphobia. And each time I think I may be getting better. Some crazy person gives me another reason to just stay inside.

If you look at the videos from the opening of the festival, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Crowds rushed through the gates the moment they opened, literally tore through the metal detectors, and there were pileups of people at the fences just to get inside the venue. And that was hours before things truly turned tragic.
It appeared to be a disorganized mess combined with an impatient crowd that got angrier and more aggressive as the night wore on, fueled by a headliner with a history of provoking rowdy, toxic behavior from his audience, spiked by a cocktail of dangerous drugs and a lack of a real security presence until things truly escalated beyond the point of no return. There's no way around it, Astroworld will be remembered as a generational disaster for Gen-Z, just as Altamont was for Baby Boomers and Woodstock '99 was for Gen-X.

Unfortunately Astroworld will be forgotten by next week. Malibu Stacy will get a new hat and that's all anyone will be talking about.

I hope the defining video clip of Travis Scott's career is the one where people are trying to help a pile of dead fans while he looks on, and he goes back to doing the robot.
You don't get the video of you playing at the Superbowl as your eulogy in 50 year's time, you yet an ambulance trying to get through a crowd while you tell your fans to "get the ground shaking" instead of telling them to move out of the way and try and pick fallen people up.
After Hillsborough this should NEVER have happened again, but not only has it happened again, apparently one of the injured had a father who survived that. We. Never. Learn.

I remember being at an iron maiden gig in Twickenham back in 2008 I think. Avenged sevenfold were half way through their last song when the singer shouts "there's somebody hurt! Somebody's hurt." The band stops playing and the singer gives the secruity a bollocking. "Do your f***ing job." Later on during Maiden's set Bruce told the crowd "if everyone takes 2 steps back" in the middle of a song (in fact I think he even sang it to match the song). Some artists do know how to behave and look out for the fans in the audience.
Regarding the jabbing, what's the actual news? I heard a secruity guard felt a prick in his neck and collapsed but I don't know if that story has any legs. I also don't think it's possible that the chaos could be the result of one person injecting a few people in the crowd.

Should mention that this and the one month of BetterHelp (glad you're going beyond, Scott) includes a waiver taking away your right to sue him and the festival over events that transpired and if they do try, they can sue you for costs.

I thought it was messed up that he was offering monetary things for the injuries and deaths, after failing to react to a myriad of emergencies. This is actually way more messed up.

So, he frames it like he's trying to do a good thing, but it's really all to avoid getting sued and having to lose even more money. Probably presented in a manner that the victims/families of victims don't even know this is the case. Nothing says "I'm devastated over what happened" and "I'm sorry, I mean it" like shrouding a Get Out Of A Lawsuit Free card in funereal and mental health philanthropy.

I really hope none of the families sign any of that. This piece of garbage deserves to go to prison.

Account from someone who was in the crush and tried to get help Yeah… I’m ok with never going to one of these music festivals. Even when they go off without a hitch, the appeal is kind of lost on me. You're going to be outside for 10+ hours, in a sea of people, listening to bad audio of artists performing a considerable distance from you while occasionally standing in long lines to pay way too much for drinks and food. Went to a metal fest in Austin that was indoors and lasted half a day, and by the last set I was still thinking "Jesus Christ, enough, I don't want to hear anymore blast beats". I don't understand why anyone would subject themselves to this.
