Has WWE themselves made any public statements on this? I'm kinda wondering is this whole thing is really about distribution, because in North America WWE's DVD's have been distributed by Warner Brothers the last few years, and of course Warner is working with AEW now. Maybe its not the issue, but I could see how it could be.

Not surprised since physical media is dying. Some of my earliest memories of wrestling are renting VHS tapes.

Maybe its not the issue, but I could see how it could be. Funnily enough, I bought WrestleMania 37 on Blu-Ray, which to say the picture quality is impressive, but was laughing whenever Vince mentions "WB" instead of "WWE" in his opening promo. On a personal note, I recently started collecting physical media again after being on hiatus for over 10 years. I was on a fence on getting a 4k Blu-Ray player, but once I did, I was surprised on both the picture and audio quality vs the streaming counterpart. Streaming can provide so much bitrate that the HD and 4k stream videos are prone to compression artifacts. Honestly, a 1080p blu-ray looks better than 4k streaming for this reason. Another reason to me is that streaming companies, especially Peacock, are editing content. I do not like this personally as it is a slippery slope and certain content can be pulled because it doesn't fit their agenda. Also, I don't believe in changing content, as I see it as altering history. So yeah, this news did hit me hard. I will look forward for AEW's Blu-Ray and 4k Blu-Ray releases. AEW in HDR would look sick af.

I don't know how on earth you put together a best of Drew McIntyre DVD and not include the 2011 Elimination Chamber. That's still probably my favorite match of his.

Agreed, but I think they were limited to it being a single disc. Same reason presumably there isn't a single Sheamus match, as great as those were, they were comparatively lengthy. It sort of reminds me of that one Jericho set that (paraphrasing here) Jericho described his match-choice selection as what he's want to show future generations as a testament to the landmarks of his career. I do wonder if anyone will be nostalgic for Thunderdome matches in a few years/decades as I hate the aesthetic more than any and all set-ups WWE ever had and I wonder if others feel the same. I can see myself revisiting an empty arena match easy, but those LED screens...ehhhh it's going to take some time.

and with that I will no longer have a physical copy of every Wrestlemania going forward I’m not sure how likely it is, but if the Home Video Division is just closing in North America they may still have physical copies of WrestleMania for the European, Asian, etc markets. Those could be region free, but if they’re not, region free players are becoming increasingly more affordable

In a twisted way I'm kinda glad this happened because my WWE collection is now well over 800, and you only have so much space, plus since the network started it hasn't been as fun as it was before, in fact I'm actually a little behind the last couple years since I haven't been getting every single PPV. I guess I'll see how things go going forward.

If anyone really loves WWE Physical Media, here is your chance to come save it by buying this in mass. Give them a reason to keep putting this stuff out. As for me I love physical media. But I don’t love modern WWE enough

I honestly thought this happened a few years ago until I heard there were McIntyre and Attitude Era DVD'S either released or being released soon. I was a massive collector of physical media until maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I absolutely loved WWE documentaries starting around 2004. The quality of the documentaries took a noticeable dive when the Network started several years ago but I would still buy them along with the match collections which were always great. I would go to the store the day a new WWE DVD was being released because I had to have it. As others here have stated my collection started with Coliseum Videos back in the 90's. I used to love to find used CV's for a few bucks in the used section at my local video stores as a kid. I have hundreds and hundreds of wrestling DVD and VHS tapes boxed up in my garage. The death of WWE's physical media division is a sad day for long time fans like myself. I no longer care enough to import DVD's nor do I even care enough to watch the zombie version of the Network that we now have here in the US. I've attempted to watch it a couple times but I can't get past the constant commercial interruptions. I loathe commercials which was one of the reasons I loved physical media so much.

As a long-time wrestling fan and the owner of a small video store (which I closed in February of 2021), wrestling tapes and DVD's have been a big part of my life. Between my personal collection and a few leftovers from my store I probably have about 300 DVD's. The highlights of my collection are the DVD's and tapes of shows I attended in person. I have a ticket for the Royal Rumble and I will be very disappointed if I can't add that DVD.

There goes me being able to watch the Royal Rumble. It was about the only WWE thing I bothered to watch anymore and that was only on dvd. I’m not giving them any money for a PPV or network.
