Oh no, only #5 on the night and losing to two big reality shows and two NBA games? Whatever will this company do?! I got just the idea: Two wrestlers. No ring. One giant hamster ball. Two enter, only one comes out.

Posting here because I don't think it deserve sits own thread, but apparently AEW Dynamite on 12/1 did 61,000 in the Demo ,(and compared to SD! 11/26 which did 19,000)
It definitely seems like the Canadian market keeps growing at least and I wouldnt be surprised to see a Canadian tour announced when they can

Look, you can debate the quality of AEW, i personality think it’s still great, even if it’s not quite as hot. But they are searching for the next giant story after they finally blew off the epic two year Omega/Page storyline. And getting the next hot thing takes time.
But I always find people who ignore the west coast changes and having to move Dynamite because of hockey effecting their ratings, those people are being very disingenuous. Because it’s really just an excuse for them to say “see..AEW sucks and if they were what I want it to be, they’d do better.” Heck, even in WWE ratings threads it’s the same thing. I despise their product, but I can’t deny that in comparison to modern day TV ratings, not tv ratings from the 90s or even a few years ago, they are doing really damn well. If WWE and AEW are doing bad in ratings, then so is the vast majority of tv shows.
I’m not saying they’d be doing record ratings right now. But they’d be doing better if things were back to normal. Going to TBS would help I feel. And as history shown, once they get into a hot period with ratings, all those people who shit talk AEW and the ratings usually shut up.

Man, poor Tony. I cant even begin to imagine the amount in the millions on contracts hes spent over the last 2-3 months, only to bring these dudes in and see his ratings get worse. I never understand why these people think by bringing in BIG NAMES with BIG CONTRACTS to a company on a regular basis- as in a full time wrestler, will pop ratings every week.
Its not just AEW, its WWE. I think the wrestling fan today will mostly watch anyways, you may get a few more for the first or second time the big surprise guys shows up-- but the days of bringing in a BIG STAR or a BIG SIGNEE and having them double your ratings for the next 6 months to a year are over.

Orange Cassidy is probably just as over as PUNK/Bryan etc and if booked right could be on their level, and I bet the dude doesnt even make 20% of what Punk is making or Bryan.......
so many other dudes who are right there as well, making pennis compared to what Tonys spent and on the "wwe guys" and they would draw the same ratings

I cant imagine how bad WWE ratings will be if they also aired at 5pm in the West Coast, let alone promotions like Impact, MLW.

Well I imagine the money has brought in purely from PPV revenue, merchandising revenue, and live gates has already made his contract worth it.

Nice job validating the post right above yours by the way. The ratings have been at this floor since the west coast feed went live for hockey, but sure, keep crying doom or blaming Tony or the wrestlers for failing or something, that's more fun and healthy to do.

I think that guy is doing a schtick…you almost have to be to make a comment like that and completely ignore the fact that PPV buys and live attendance have both gone up since the major signings.

Also, I feel like I should be asking this in general; what numbers should they be doing? Like, we can agree that Raw has dropped considerably in viewership even during the last year but even then, they've been keeping the USA Network together with the duck tape, super glue and Chucky it has with the demos they do on a monthly basis.
TNT hypes them up all the time in press releases. They hype the success of Dynamite, they hype the success of Rampage (because Rampage is doing numbers no other show in that time slot would do for the network), Tony Khan talks about the PPV buys and live attendances being better (and sometimes even beating the WWE in the same state) than before and the only reason they're not fully in the green is because of the video game. If TNT had issues, we'd likely know about it because, outside of sports and reruns of Big Bang Theory, nothing on TNT or TBS is doing what Dynamite or Rampage does consistently.
Like...are we expecting them to do Impact 2010-2012 numbers? Because that isn't realistic in a world with Netflix, Disney+ and easier access to video games than ever before, along with stuff being more open because of COVID. There are shows that are considered successes on cable not doing those numbers.
I'm just sort of confused here. They made the Top 5 in cable this week. They lost to two reality shows they've lost to before and the NBA which has only grown in popularity since COVID. They’ve been consistently in the Top 10 in the demos since inception. In television, that’s a success. What else are we expecting here?

Punk probably justified his contract just in how many damn t-shirts he sold during his first week in the company.

The company is making money and their ratings were higher consistently before the West Coast feed issue which we will find out how much it is affecting ratings come January. And as others have said, live events and PPV buys have spiked since they brought in Bryan and Punk.

Punk probably justified his contract just in how many damn t-shirts he sold during his first week in the company. That’s another stat they have right now; Punk’s AEW shirt is the highest selling shirt in PWT history. Not for the week, the month, the year…ever. It outsold the original Bullet Club shirt in a fraction of the time. And that shirt sold a truckload and was everywhere at one point.
