Signing Jerry Lawler and Billy Graham shows that Vince is sure looking to the future! Next they'll have to sign that up and coming youngster: Carlos Colon.

WWE is beginning its slow transition into a local indy fed where they advertise "WWF Stars of the past" Only WWE gets to use footage and music. Live this Monday on raw Demolition return to face Tatanka and Doink with special time keeper Lex Luger "Lex, how much time left in this contest?" "I DON'T KNNNNNNNNOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!" I'm so glad I got that in before the year was out.

Billy Graham vs Dusty Rhodes #1 at MSG is my favorite match of all time. That was September 1977.
Billy Graham has spent the past 11 years spewing unprompted vitriol on social media toward today's talent for absolutely no reason.
Billy Graham's 2005 DVD, at the height of the medium, was such a poor seller that it cancelled the entire WWE Legends DVD line and made it seem like his era had no audience. It's just as, if not more, likely Graham's public persona in the decades prior burnt every bit of good will and nostalgia people had for him.
I have no idea if he really did get a new WWE contract, or what it would entail, or what the WWE would hope to get from it.

they're basically paying him to shut up for 5 years He pops his head up like once a year to say something asinine. I wouldn't think that's worthy of a "Take this cash and Shut up" contract.

I suspect Billy Graham and the like are getting these deals as they'll end up making up the bulk of the roster of the videogames because 2k want people who won't be cut without consultation

He's probably full of shit, though I could see it possibly being some pity move if it is true, some "live comfortably and die quietly, thanks" money.

Yeah, this sounds more like a "Shut Up Billy" than a "Nostalgia" contract.

Vince McMahon: "Johnny *mumble*, sign me that *mumble* bald Billy guy that's *mumble* kinda famous in the past and *mumble* somehow into wrestling." Johnny Ace: "Vince, I got you on this one!" Vince McMahon: "Billy? Billy Graham? was Billy Gunn not available?" Johnny Ace: "Uh Vince, I believe he's retired."

I know the WWE audience is leaning older theese days but...WWWF days old? I mean, isn't NXT 2.0's demo largely men in their 50s and 60s? They would've been kids in his prime, so...

Fun fact: Lesnar is the same age now that SBG was when he had to stop wrestling and become a manager. I thought Graham was like 60 at the time.

Fun fact: Lesnar is the same age now that SBG was when he had to stop wrestling and become a manager. I thought Graham was like 60 at the time. Steroid abuse, and his mental health plummeting after dropping the title and Vince Sr. refusing to turn him face, seemed to make him look pretty haggard. That, plus his hips and ankles giving out on him probably made him look extra geriatric.
