Figured might as well relay this in case anyone's interested. Basically long and short of it the company Eyeballistic approached Warner Bros. about remaking Mortal Kombat Trilogy in 2016, but were turned down because WB didn't have faith that it would sell. They're wanting to try again and looking for 100,000 signatures to go ahead with it, and included a video demonstrating the look they're going for - www.change.org/p/ben-bell-kickstart-campaign-for-mortal-kombat-trilogy-remake-with-ue5I'm kind of ehhhh on it personally. Think visually that mostly looks great - Baraka's face is weird but guess trying to look like the original sprites - but Trilogy isn't really very good and in general I think the pre-MK9 games have aged really poorly at this point. Still, if the demand's there for it do hope they can manage to get it made.

Not gonna lie, I'd love a Deadly Alliance/Deception/Armageddon remake, but Trilogy? Eh, no thanks.

Naw leave the original trilogy alone..MK2 and UMK3 still hold up IMO and quite frankly an update would likely just make the game really f***ing ugly.
But if they wanna try and remake the ugly 3d era games then go for it.

Honestly Mortal Kombat is dead to be after Ed "I no longer care about my past games and characterizations" Boon ended 11 with another pointless reboot.

MKTrilogy is one of my favorites in the franchise so a graphical remake with the same engine would be pretty awesome imo

As long as they improve on some of the shitty MK3 Fatliaties.

As long as they improve on some of the shitty MK3 Fatliaties. Do feel like if you're doing this there's really no reason not to angle to be comprehensive, putting in all the Fatalities and stages you can from MK1 and 2 plus both Chameleon and Khameleon.

I'd much rather the PS2 trilogy get the remake treatment.

Netherrealms stories in general have pretty much always been shit.... but yeah. A massive reboot after 8... followed by 11 which had like a mini reboot in it with the multiple timelines... ending with a complete reboot again... sure is something.

If they were to do it like Hyper Street Fighter II, where we can select which fighting style to use (MK, MKII, MKIII, UMKIII), then I'm all for it. If it's just a straight remake with the busted UMKIII style? Hard pass.

Based on the demonstration how about we get a sitcom that features Scorpion and Baraka running a church. It could be like Father Ted only a lot more 1980s.

MK is definitely a game that I think can do without remasters. The nostalgia is what makes me want to go stand at an old UMK3 cabinet, not refreshed graphics.

Random, but I do love that church theme.
The MK3 soundtrack in general is so lit.

The potential remake that they did new mocap for was interesting, but ultimately I think I would rather play the originals. (Well, I'd rather play MK9-11 because the old MK3 AI was pretty busted, but hey).
As far as new casts go, most of their recent creations (or remakes of old concepts) have been way more interesting than the old "Here's another ninja, but in a different colour, who now has to be in every game or people complain even if they're utterly irrelevant to the story."

A massive reboot after 8... followed by 11 which had like a mini reboot in it with the multiple timelines... ending with a complete reboot again... sure is something. I could've done without the revenants, but I liked 9 and X's stories for the most part. The whole "change the past so we're not all f***ed in the end" thing is a cool concept and MKX actually made Shinnok interesting, which was kind of impressive given all he was before was "not Shang Tsung with bony hands fatalities". Both games had problems (and seriously, f*** the revenants), but yeah. Just a shame 11 went out of its way to undermine just about everybody on the roster in terms of story. Like, I don't think there's really anyone 11 helped. Also, yeah, the mini reboot idea is pretty lame since we just had that with 9. But I mean, I kind of get Ed Boon's desire to make a new game with a new cast of characters. I'm sure it does get a little boring to have the same cast to try and find new ideas for moves/fatalities/story/etc. Maybe MK just needs to take a hiatus for a while and we get a new IP where NRS can flex their creative muscle. I wouldn't use Mortal Kombat to do something like this because yeah, people are gonna expect the familiar cast, but people would play a NRS fighting game with violence and fatalities and such that's not called Mortal Kombat.

Will say isn't seeming too likely they're hitting 100,000 on this, in the span of time since I posted this thread they've only gone up a couple thousand to about 18,500. Maybe if it explodes in the attention it's getting but feel like the demand just isn't there.
