What was the first video game rated M for Mature you played, and how old were you when you played it? For me it was Doom 2. I was 14, though I had also played Wolfenstein 3d and Doom before that, both of which would have been rated M if the ESRB had been around then.

I mean probably Mortal Kombat 2 which we rented as kids. First owned was UMK3 for the SNES when that came out. We got it for Xmas from our parents. My cousin was a bad influence on us but our parents knew how cartoonist it is

Yeah, probably renting MK or casually playing Wolfenstein.
I actually had to look up rated M Playstation games and I had no idea stuff like Syphon Filter, Dinocrisis, Metal Gear Solid were “Rated M”. First game that I played that really “felt” like a Rated M game was probably Twisted Metal Black.

I would probably say the first Mortal Kombat game once the code was activated, which means I played it on the Genesis, but that game had the MA-13 rating. Hell, you could probably say the second game was the first one because that was slapped the MA-17 rating for the Genesis before the ESRB took over and put the ratings on games for different platforms.
But if you really want to get technical, I played both games in the arcade before they came to home consoles.
Oh, and I played these games when I was little, like still in single-digit age range. I was about 7 when I first played Mortal Kombat.

I was .... not sure how old i was but had to be late teens maybe early 20s. When did Doom II hit PCs? If we count games that would have gotten the M Rating but came out before the ESRB it would be Custer's Revenge on the Atari. Buddy tracked down a copy in 91 or 92.I was 17 or 18.

The rating system was non existent when I played video games.. I will just say the first game with mature content I played.
I think it might have been game based adaptation of the Charles Bronson Death Wish movies for the Amiga 5000.. it was a side scroller and really violent.. I remember the shotgun really messed people up. .. it was not long before Dad hid that floppy disc (it came in a multipack)
Looking it up .. it was based on Death Wish 3

Probably Killer Instinct, since I got ID'd when I bought it. I don't think I got the MKII SNES port until after that.

Retroactively, the first should have been Mortal Kombat.
I think.

The first M game I bought was Diablo but the first I played was probably Mortal Kombat or Doom. It was long enough ago I don't remember which would have been first.

It would have to be MK when I was 5 or 6 or RE3, around the same time.

There was a Dracula game out for the C64 where you could die in unfortunate ways. If not that then certainly something like Harvester for the Amiga.
