Speaking of old men yelling at clouds… You know that silly Lilly doll we all hated? They shifted a few units:
And if it weren’t for them putting out an obscenely expensive Steve Austin collector belt that managed to sell a bit, it’d have been the highest-grossing item of the year. And statistically, that doll got her to being the highest-grossing full-time current star on the roster merch-wise in 2021, even more than Roman Reigns.
(Steve Austin still making bank for WWE 26 years down the road)

Can’t blame them, then.
I find those segments and the character god-awful but if it’s selling. . . $$$$$$

She's always been a big merch mover. I remember going to a show in 2017 and those Little Miss Bliss shirts with the Harley Quinn looking design were everywhere.

If you're interested in their methodology, see below. I think she moves a lot of merch, but I do wonder if this is fuzzy math...
Estimated Sales and Estimated Earnings is the number that we came up with based on the Official WWE Annual Report, and the number of reviews on the Official WWE Shop.
On the annual report, we can see that they had about 700k sales, and we managed to scrape about 7k reviews on the official shop, which is about 1% of 700k sales. So, we've multiplied our numbers by 100 to get a close estimate.
Figures are as of December 22, 2021

That said, there’s still a lot of anecdotal evidence of Bliss being a massive merch mover.

Yeah, people love Alexa. I'm not sure if anyone else outside of maybe like 3 other women would've been able to make this stupid character work. It's also why I've been so interested in seeing her as a face against heel Becky.

That seems like a stretch to say these numbers are accurate but I suppose it could be somewhere in that ballpark.

Should it concern WWE that of their Top 10 pieces of merchandise, over half are from people that aren't actually there and only now is Alexa Bliss actually back. I guess money is money... but it does signify WWEs problem with creating new stars.

Alexa Bliss + a plushie was like the definition of a license to print money. Like I might be over here thinking "okay why are u dressed like a child" but kids don't give a f***. Kids look at that and start banging the floor like ONE OF US ONE OF US.

Would anyone have bought a ticket to see Hulk Hogan vs Roddy Piper when weeks before the show Pedro Morales came out and beat up Roddy to pop a single crowd?

I feel bad for all those buyers who put down their money for one of those dolls only to discover too late that they don’t actually wink.

Why'd they have Charlotte destroy the doll if it was printing money?

Interesting little note going by those numbers, even if they are a bit fuzzy, but here are the top 10 merch movers for the active (or just on injured list) women: 1) Alexa Bliss 2) Sasha Banks 3) Becky Lynch 4) Asuka 5) Mandy Rose 6) Candice LeRae 7) Dakota Kai 8) Natalya 9) Io Shirai 10) Naomi That being said, I feel like the numbers get way less reliable the lower you get. Like Bianca Belair shouldn't be at $0. And it feels like if a star recently got new merchandise, they would be higher up on the charts as well. I can't speak for Candice, Dakota, or Natalya, but in the case of Io, it's shocking she's that high up still considering she hasn't gotten new merchandise in quite some time. Why'd they have Charlotte destroy the doll if it was printing money? Because WWE has this idea that Charlotte is way more popular than she actually is.

Yeah, that was always gonna be a big hit. Not even tryna bury nobody but the audience is always gonna be there for what is, effectively, infantilizing grown women.
