Here's a perfect example. This is a cereal I ate growing up, mostly in the mid 90's. Now without the internet or any information to back up my claim, I pretty much knew the guy on the box was dead, it was just something probable to me given the man's likely age and the graininess of the photo and the hair style, it just seemed obvious. It was distracting when I ate too, I usually had to make sure the box was facing the other way, so that his dead eyes and creepy smile didn't give me nightmares. Years later, I look up the guy on the box. His name is George Mann and he died in 1977. So why in the world would they keep his face on the box until the year 2000? Did he have some kind of agreement with Quaker? Did thousands of children have to suffer from his death gaze? Once they switched over to the cartoon king that looked like a wizard, King Vitaman started disappearing from shelves and is now discontinued. So maybe the cereal did have something to do with the old dead man? Cursed?

The Adam West Batman show was probably some 25 years old when I saw it, but I can't recall specifically considering it something old, maybe it helped that it was in color. Same with 15 years old Star Wars. I honestly thought the Michael Keaton films were older than Adam West Batman purely due to the colour palette as a kid.
