Raw being moved to SyFy for 2 weeks

-PWInsider.com has learned that for two weeks in February, WWE's Monday Night Raw will be bumped off the USA Network to air instead on Syfy.

On Monday 2/7 and Monday 2/13, the USA Network will be airing live coverage of the Winter Olympic Games, requiring Raw to be bumped off its usual home for the first time in decades.

On Monday 2/7, USA will instead air Men's Figure Skating. On Monday 2/13, the cable network will broadcast Freestyle Skiing.

That is a bit nuts not even just a week but 2 is Raw getting bumped off and it aint even for dogs this time.

That feels like a bit of a message being sent down to WWE maybe not overtly but one that we may hear more things surrounding as negotiations for a new TV deal get closer.

NBC Universal closed NBC Sports Network at the start of the year, so USA Network and CNBC are showing a lot more sports now.  Premiere League Soccer is now on USA seemingly every day.

I'm not going to look too deeply into this one given the fact that NBCSN doesn't exist anymore. I'm not sure that this is so much a comment on RAW but the fact that the Olympics are the freakin' Olympics.

The US Open in 2006, it got moved to Sci Fi for the night

They're just lucky NBC lost the NHL rights. I would imagine the same thing would happen in May/June if that was the case.

Yeah, this isn’t a big deal at all. I’d say this was likely briefed well in advance because, like you said, it’s the Olympics. Same with Smackdown being moved to FS1 every year, there are always higher priorities for channels.

It happened in 2007 as well.  They moved Raw to Thursday one week in February because of the dog show, plus Raw aired on SyFy for a week or two in August/September due to tennis (with an 11:00 PM replay on USA).

I'm just wondering why it's happening this time when during the summer USA interrupted 24/7 Olympic coverage for Raw.

Yes, NBCSN existed, but that was used mostly for reruns, while CNBC was airing what USA would've aired.
