…will be in time for WM 38”
Here we are, two months away from the event. Bobby made this quote at WM17 in Houston during the gimmick battle Royal (which happened one year BEFORE nostalgia became popular.) Who would have thought that WM38 would also be taking place in Texas? Granted in Dallas, but still.

I swear, they should have him walk to the ring during the pre-show to put an end to that joke. Some smart-ass can then say he finally made it there.

With how other milestones ended, I wouldn't be pushing my luck.
That said, I'd love that gag. Sheik isn't really getting around a lot though, and it's been that way for awhile. Not even indy appearances.

The Iron Sheik could still walk to the ring I really don’t think he can. He won because he couldn’t take the bump to get eliminated…21 years ago.

The Iron Sheik could still walk to the ring Sheik can walk very short distances with a cane but is mostly wheelchair-bound, his legs are f***ed.

I've heard that's just a widespread myth and he was always booked to win it. Makes sense to me as he was one of just two WWE champions so would have won anyway.

Can't see them booking a heel in that case when the other WWE champion was a face, and was there, and ended the match triumphant.

I'd have loved them to make that the longest brick joke ever but alas I don't think Sheiks health is up to it these days.

J.R., Cornette and Bruce have all told that exact same story about Shiek only winning because he couldn’t physically go over the top rope. Bruce and Cornette were actually in the match and J.R. was calling it. I don't believe anything Bruce says but he has nothing to gain from lying about this one, and I actually believe the other 2 when they talk.

Sheik spent the entire match holding on to the top rope, and they got him out of the ring by having Slaughter put him in the cobra clutch and gently lowering him down to the mat. I have no trouble believing that Sheik couldn't take the bump as the reason he won.

Iron Sheik was nearly 60 years old at the time the Gimmick Battle Royal took place. He was the oldest participant and was moving around in a very pained and awkward way...even taking small steps you can see him having trouble (when he tries to sneak up behind Hillbilly Jim) I have no doubt he likely incapable of a top rope bump by then
Wasnt this his last match anyway?

What makes it scarier is I was born in the same year as the first ever Wrestle Mania so every time Wrestle Mania comes along it's the same age as me! Same man. At least as I get older it’s a way of remembering my age! Although my birthday is December so I have to wait until the end of the year to get to the Wrestlemania number.
