Re: the OP post, I'm not sure Ahmed/Goldust should have been a straight-up minute squash, but I agree Ahmed had no business going 15 minutes. I was there for that live, and as excited as I was to see my first title change in person, it was brutal getting there.
My vote here is for Undertaker vs. Bundy at WrestleMania 11. No one wanted to see that, and with Bundy apparently unable to take a tombstone or chokeslam as the finish, they should have just gotten it over with fast. Bundy sneak attacks with the Avalanche, then hits a second one. Ref rings bell to officially start the match. Bundy misses third Avalanche and staggers around as Undertaker goes up to the top and does a huge flying clothesline and pins him. Time of match: 0:09. They can immediately make a big deal of how Bundy both won and lost a WrestleMania match in 9 seconds.
Best part is they can squeeze in an eighth match and get a few more guys on the show. Heavenly Bodies vs. 123 Kid/Bob Holly would have been a great addition.

The Bushwhackers vs. Beverly Brothers match went on way too long, alot of stalling. Should've been less than 9 minutes instead of almost 15.

Controversial choice, but Hogan/Slaughter at WM7. People just wanted to see Slaughter destroyed, if they decided to pull a Summerslam 88 and have him get squashed almost immediately, it would have gotten the same, maybe even a bigger, reaction.

I feel like no match should be a squash unless it's a star against a total jobber. Something like Bundy and SD Jones shouldn't have even been a squash. If trying to showcase a new talent on a PPV or big event the new talent should spend a few minutes totally destroying the other guy to showcase themselves as the next big thing.

I don't know, The Ultimate Warrior squashing The Honky Tonk Man did it's job and fit the narrative perfectly. For the past 15 months the Elvis Impersonator was cheating his way into keeping the IC belt. Whether it's help from Jimmy Hart distracting the referee so he can attack said opponent with the megaphone, or purposely getting himself counted out or disqualified, fans were foaming at the mouth to see this unqualified goof get dethroned. Originally suppose to face Brutus Beefcake at the inaugural Summerslam, The Barber was put on the shelves by "The Outlaw" Ron Bass, leaving him without a challenger. Honky then arrogantly issued an open challenge to whoever was in the back delusionally forgetting how he had to cheat his way into keeping the belt. Rising star Ultimate Warrior answered the challenge and the unprepared Honky couldn't find a way out this time. He didn't even have time to take off his jacket before Warrior took his title. I find it only fitting that a reign that lasted 15 months ended in 30 seconds. Anything more than that would look ridiculous. Even if it's between two name talent, not every match has to be a 20 minute clinic, it's about what works best given the narrative involved.

Yeah, squashes can put over new/relatively new talent huge particularly when they’re against someone with name value. Like Vader squashing Inoki and the Road Warriors squashing legends early in their run.
