I was just wondering. Ever since I got my smart phone, and then later my tablet, I don't use my actual computer as much since I don't do anything special with it besides check the internet, watch videos, or do the occasional work related thing that requires a stronger processor and bigger screen, and reply to emails. Also, I didn't print as much stuff since I could look stuff up on my tablet, or sign stuff with an apple pencil.
At first, I was happy to not put so much wear and tear on my computer since I've had it for so long, but now I feel bad that it's taking up space and now it feels like I'm wasting money having something that I never use. Now I'm doing stuff to justify having it around, so I'm using it for various things and I forgot how much better it was typing with my hands and a mouse.
Decided to learn excel off of youtube and my 2007 copy of Office that I don't have to pay a subscription fee for Learning a new language that doesn't have a lot of official resources, so youtube and google have been a blessing for a lot of copy and paste, or typing stuff as someone's talking.
Also, got a laser printer for cheap, and a crapload of paper that was originally being conservative about using. But now that I don't have to worry about ink, I'm using the hell out of it. Using all the scratch paper to print on the clean side, all my language notes have actually helped me de clutter a lot of paper I had lying around.
Also, another reason for this question, is that on TV, everyone uses a laptop, and I rarely see towers at the store. Are they not as popular, or being phased out, or just a tv thing? I did notice one year where they took out the DVD/CD players, but recently, they're back. I guess a lot of people didn't like it. I know I felt weird about it.

Yeah there are some things I need my desktop for. I only really use my smartphone when I'm watching TV or about to go to bed. I don't have a printer, but I do borrow my mother's once or twice a year.
Laptops are probably used in TV because they're cheaper/more portable for actors instead of getting stuck behind a monitor for scenes. I haven't really looked in awhile because I'm not shopping in stores as much but I think Walmart still had a decent selection of desktops.

I have both a desktop and a laptop but I 100% prefer the desktop and treat it as my primary. ... Despite the fact I'm typing this on the laptop. Granted I don't have a phone and have no real desire to get one.

Oh yeah, and something I never thought about, My neck feels a lot better since I'm looking straight and directly at a monitor and not down at smart screen. Even a laptop, I have to look down at an angle.

Have two desktops. My GIS/CAD/Rendering software requires it. It would be cheaper to buy a new car than to get a laptop version of my work PC.
Plus the ergonomics of a quality desktop setup are good for the body and soul.

Switched to a laser printer shortly before Covid, I recommend them whenever I get the chance now.

I have a phone and tablet, but I still primarily use my desktop, mainly because it's easier to type on a desktop keyboard (I know you can buy keyboards for those devices).

I stopped using a desktop and is using a laptop.
The plus side is, I got more space on my desk.

I want to. I want to get more into gaming (or back into it) and most of what I want to play is on there. I also need to get a new printer for my cousin to get her school stuff printed out on and shipping labels and shit. I'm tired of paying to do that at Staples.

I'm a PC gamer, so 100% still use a desktop as I can't do laptop gaming at all. Still have a printer for some things, too.

Yes, my desktop is still the primary way I use the internet, with my phone being used when I am on the go.
I only sparingly use a printer, so I just use my mother's when I need something printed.

I have a laptop I use for taxes.
And I still use my printer sometimes for mailing labels and printing photos and stuff like that.

My desktop died back in 2014. Got a laptop. Between it and my two tablets I'm good.
We got a printer but haven't used it in years now.

Still have two desktops set up in my little office area, but one is basically just a Plex media server. Couple years back my folks bought a laptop and gave me their old All in One computer so I factory reset it and use it as my desktop when I need a proper computer/printer set up.

1. I ain't gaming on no Notebook.
2. I ain't working on no gaming PC (Cause that is hooked on to my TV. I also need at least two Screens to be efficient.)
3. My Phone is for work and communication.
So yeah, mostly work on Notebook and Entertainment on Desktop.

I was glad I had the desktop when I was working from home. But in general I don’t use it much.

At work I have a desktop with two monitors (hopefully adding a third soon), regular printer, label printer, and barcode scanner. I also have a work laptop for working remotely but it doesn’t hold a charge and most of the time when I use it I just remote in to my regular computer because it works so much faster.
At home I live off my phone and iPad. We used to have a desktop but my sons loaded so much crap onto it (Discord, Spotify, various games, probably viruses galore) that it ran so slowly as tone unusable.

My desktop died in 2014, and I've exclusively used laptops since. My printer has been gathering dust since the day my desktop died.
