Here's the story...friend of mines wife came down with covid. Do he had a free ticket to go with him and his kids. It'd be a 4 hour trip and roughly 2 days there...
Downsides, I didn't plan for this and don't exactly have money for food etc. The WWE product doesn't excite me and I'm not really a kids person at this stage of my life...also my wife and I run a business and it'd pull me from that. Also the Chiefs game is Sunday and I'd probably miss that.
If I don't go my 20 year old son would and I think I may let him go instead, what do you think?

Honestly? I wouldn't want to be that close to anyone who lived with someone who just caught covid.

Judging by your post it sounds like your son might get more out of it then you.

Have they been PCR tested as of like today with results coming tomorrow? Plans for antigen tests leading up to it? If so, are they isolating from his wife? TBH, it sounds like a risk for anybody in that family to be going. Probably not worth it for you to get caught up in that.

Most shows even terrible ones are a usually still pretty enjoyable in person.
But it being last minute and not really having a plan (or maybe even the cash to enjoy yourself) and well your job is definitely an adult responsibility style problem.
4 hours can also be a rough drive/sit depending on a lot of factors...
I think it's gonna come down to if you really think you won't enjoy yourself it's probably better to give it to someone that will.

That doesn't even factor in the last time I went to WWE TV I was bored as f*** and it went on forever.

Even for something that I'd want to see like the Rumble, the combo of current product being what it is and not having food money would make me more stressed about the 8 hours of driving / 2 day stay than hyped for seeing the event.

I went to RAW a couple of months ago and it was absolutely excruciating and not even remotely fun. The Rumble though, I’d probably go to just for the Rumble matches alone. If nothing else the entrances will be fun.

Rumbles are awesome in person, I was at 2008 and 2018. And the matches beside the Rumbles are top notch this year as well.
I’d be more concerned with the food money aspect of it, and catching COVID from the guy and his kids (unless they or you had it already very recently).

Eh, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. Doesn't sound like you'd enjoy it, and that's okay.

The money is an issue...I owe about 1500 dollars of bills this weekend.

I enjoy going to shows, I've probably been to 50+ wrestling shows...it just being unplanned being a multiple day trip and well not being into the WWE product has me iffy.

Sounds like strictly from a financial standpoint alone, going is a really bad idea and just for that, you shouldn't throw on any unexpected surprise plans. Like totally removed from WWE's product itself this sounds like a not-super-great idea, and getting into the WWE product, I really don't think it's the kind of once in a lifetime experience worth throwing a wrench into shit for.

Putting covid aside, Why would I dish out 100 bucks to watch the babyface chumps get embarrassed again and be mad about it?
I can do that for free and enjoy homemade spaghetti and meatballs while I'm at it.

Don't know if this is helpful, but I'm not going to events that I really want to go to because of everything going on. They're annual events, I'll make it in a year or two.

The Rumble would probably be the one show I'd consider going to even though I've falling out of the product but given your circumstances I'd probably set this one out.

I would advise to go in a vacuum since PPVs tend to be much better live experiences than Raw/Smackdown shows. And the Rumble is definitely a bucket list item if you haven't done it, even when the product is trash.
But I am worried about you taking people that are close contacts to a COVID positive person. Just because they don't have symptoms and may be testing negative now, doesn't meant they aren't asymptomatic right now, and could be contagious and positive by Saturday.

The COVID makes it an automatic no for me. Even if you're vaxxed, boosted and masked, you'd be going with three people who live with someone who has COVID whose latest mutation is filling hospital beds. You also didn't specify/may not know if the kids are vaccinated or not, which could potentially double or triple the concern.
Plus, considering the fatigue of a four hour drive that already potentially lowers our immune systems, and the tendency for stadium shows to be giant petrie dishes, it seems like a bad idea.
And then considering the financial component that you mentioned, I really wouldn't do it and I wouldn't pass the offer to your son either as he may not want to seem ungrateful if he doesn't think it's worth the risk either.

Yeah it'd be a no for me too. You kinda sound like you're trying to talk yourself/have the internet talk you out of it anyway. Follow your gut, if you don't want to go, you don't have to go. As said, it'll be there in other years.
