One of the most important things talent need to be told when signed to the WWE is 'Never let Vince see you dance, especially if you're a larger performer.' He loves nothing better than assigning dancing gimmicks to giants or heavyweights, even if it is a credibility killer.

Saw someone say this elsewhere, but this comes off a bit as the "Jedi mind tricks" of Vince that Moxley talked about. Like, "you show personality back here, show it out there!" isn't automatically bad advice, there's an air of "be yourself" about that and things that can be of use to some wrestlers. But...Jesus Christ, half this guy's history with bigger people is "go out and dance, it's funny!", and it's impossible to shake the feeling he was just trying to find a way to say that diplomatically instead of just telling her outright. At this point Lapsed Vince might not be that far off from the truth.

The closest depiction we had of Vince in film is Grace Jones' character "Strange'" in Boomerang.
Vince is Strange'.

And no, I’m not saying Piper is fat. But WWE gave her that name for a reason. Because fat.

Also never let Vince find out you’re funny because you’ll be stuck as the “goofball” afterwards.

Doudrop reveals WWE gimmick Vince McMahon Initially pitched for her: "It was really funny because he wanted me to come out and dance. One day I got backstage and he goes, ‘goddamnit, I see you out there shaking your ass all afternoon, why can’t you do it out there?’" www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2022/02/doudrop-reveals-wwe-gimmick-vince-mcmahon-initially-pitched-her/Someone needs to explain to me that after I've seen..Akeem the African Dream, Brodus Clay, Tensai (at one point), Rikishi, Viscera (World's Largest Love Machine i think), Great Khali (at some points)..why Vince McMahon is really into seeing heavy people dance. Tensai at ONE point? Tensai at LEAST twice (remember his team with Scotty 2 Hotty?).

Sometimes I think Vince says stuff to people to see how they react. It's clear he's a bully and bullies end up respecting the people that stand up to them. Look at how Vince treated the people who did anything he asked them to do, they get screwed over. The people that stood up to Vince ended up getting the push. He respected Hulk because he went and did Rocky III when Vince sr said not to. He respected those 80's guys because they didn't let Vince push them around. As Vince's legend grew more guys allowed him to push them around and he took advantage of them. The guys who got the big push are the ones who were the biggest jerks for the most part and didn't allow themselves to pushed around, Bret, Shawn, Austin, Rock, HHH, Foley, etc are all guys who didn't take crap and pushed back when Vince had a bad idea.
I'm not saying it works for everyone but that seems to be a theme. I also don't want to give Vince that kind of credit because he probably does love a dancing big person but I think part of it is a test too. I think he respects the hell out of guys like Moxley, Bryan, and Punk for blazing their own trail and being their own people. At heart Vince is a rebel and he respects the people he can see himself in.

It seems like it’s a coin toss with Vince. Sometimes he respects you for sticking up for yourself and challenging him.
And sometimes he gets angry and punishes you for it.
He’s a weird guy.

Someone needs to explain to me that after I've seen..Akeem the African Dream, Brodus Clay, Tensai (at one point), Rikishi, Viscera (World's Largest Love Machine i think), Great Khali (at some points)..why Vince McMahon is really into seeing heavy people dance. You forgot dancing Big Show, The Oddities doing the "raise the roof" dance, and Big Fat Naked Oily Guy.

Big Dick Johnson was a national treasure. As one of the main creative forces behind Lucha Underground? Absolutely! As the guy who unfortunately got to combine his sociopathic boss's love of mocking overweight people with his love of humiliating his own employees... pass.

Not that I wouldn't mind seeing her do that, but....yeah. This is what I meant in the Nia Jax thread, and why I liked her before the nepotism and the botches and outrageous opinions. I am stunned she was never put into any comic relief spots.

If I was stuck in catering, I'd pitch a gimmick that's an amalgam of everything Vince seems to love. "I want to be a dancing hillbilly who cuts "YOU PEOPLE" promos at the audience. Also, I wear a onesie with "MILLENIALS ARE THE DEVIL" printed on it."

Somehow, I just know that this isn’t a conscious thing with Vince, and it’s just something he unconsciously gravitates to.
Like, if someone were to ask him outright, “hey, Vince, what’s up with you and making fat people dance?” he’d look at you funny and say “what do you mean, pal!? That’s just something I came up with now!! I’ve never made anyone do that before!!!”
