Jay White has too much swag to where he makes half the AEW roster look dweeby.
I’m not trying to be mean, that’s how nasty and great a heel White is. Him and MJF in the same company now is kind of ridiculous, and I find Jay more intimidating than Max.

It's kind of the opposite for me, but that's mostly because MJF's whole act is basically a carbon copy of someone who bullied the shit out of me in school (and could get away with it because his parents were on the school board), heh. I don't really have a personal frame of reference to compare White to.

The most infuriating thing about Jay is, he backs up a lot of his boasts most of the time.
And Jay can win clean more than MJF does, that’s another difference.

I remember watching his first full promo on Impact and thinking that as awesome as he is in the Puro setting in Japan, he’s made for North American wrestling television.

It’s what I’ve thought about the guy since the Cow Palace show and a lot of his NJPW run (specifically his promos), the man w/ major exposure to an American audience is money.

His first match in AEW is official, next week's 7PM Rampage! Good way to get eyes on it

I'm not familiar with him at all, but he looks like Brian Kendrick entered a time machine and (hopefully) came out just around the right moment.

I like Jay, but I'll be honest: for a long time, he really came off like Edward Furlong in Terminator 2, and just like a total doofus who was trying way too hard.
There is sometimes a little bit of that, but he's grown into his act over time quite a bit. He doesn't look like he's playing make-believe at being a tough guy anymore like when they had him win the IWGP title frankly before he was quite ready. It did allow him to grow into the role, though, not unlike Okada. (No, really, go back and watch Okada when the Rainmaker act was first debuted. Dude was WAY out of his element, but Gedo stuck by him until he got it all put together.)

An issue for me with Jay is that he seems to be constantly building to something character wise that there is no clear payoff for. Him not being able to be in Japan for shows likely made that so but he seems so in limbo.

The other night, NJPW on AXS showed the match from The New Beginning 2019 where Jay White shocked the world and beat Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. He didn't even really get booed by the Osaka crowd after he won. It was literally stunned silence as he delivered his post-victory promo in the ring.
It was a thing of beauty.

It's sort of been a thing with him since the CHAOS mole angle that got dropped, and then his inaction when EVIL was running the show in his absence, just a lot of small stuff like that.

I have heard of him but I've never actually seen a match of his.
How good is he? Mic skills, character wise, in ring? Is he better as a face or heel?

I have heard of him but I've never actually seen a match of his. How good is he? Mic skills, character wise, in ring? Is he better as a face or heel? He's an old school cerebral heel. He'll mess with your head inside the ring and use every cheap tactic to try and come out on top. But he's a fantastic wrestler too; his counter wrestling is especially great. Think of classic Memphis wrestling heel mixed with Game era Triple H. Put him up against a white meat babyface and they'll tell a masterpiece in the ring. Promo wise he is also fantastic. He'll talk so much shit, but he backs it up. Absolute best gloater in the game. He's as good a heel in professional wrestling as you will find. He's only ever really been a face during his Young Lion run, but he's developed his wrestling, character work and promo skills so much he's unrecognisable from that time. He could be a top face if he wanted; he has that badass aura and the ability to work from underneath in a match to get the crowd on his side.

I'm assuming from what we ended up with that it was supposed to be Ospreay or Sho, but Jay being borderline MIA for 2 years killed it.

Jay White is right up there alongside MJF as one of the BEST heels in the business today. What I like about him is that he reminds me a lot of Triple H in the sense that he talks a big game, but he can damn well back up what he says too. He's got the in-ring skills to go along with it as well.
With him around, shit is about to go down big time. This is gonna be good!

I always thought it was supposed to be Trent, and Chuck's freakouts were meant to be a red herring.

I’d love to see Chris Bey come in and back Jay up.
No Lio Rush means it’s the perfect time to bring him in.

Khan is out of his mind in a good way, dude (probably drunkenly at 11PM) tweeted out a crossed wire of a statement, and just to make fans happy, he went out and he got Jay White just two days later Dude doesn't need to do this, he does it because he wants to make the fans happy... isn't it refreshing? Lol When getting Jay White is your afterthought….

I’d love to see Chris Bey come in and back Jay up. No Lio Rush means it’s the perfect time to bring him in. I’m of two minds: if they’re really going to spotlight Jay, yeah. Sure. Bring in Bey. Especially if it’s involving Bullet Club affairs. But if he’ll be an an afterthought, than I really would rather they don’t cause I think Bey can make a hell of a pick-up one day and I’d rather he continue gaining momentum.
