Them boys went HARD.
Glass spot. Fork to the forehead. Fork then licked btw. Barbwire chair Said babrwire wrapped around the arm. Blackout onto the steps. Lambert taking away the top rope. Jake's DDT tease and him flipping off Hangman. Both bleeding like stuck pigs. Ref assisted Buckshot to the outside through the table.
THAT was a deathmatch. Hangman is leaving it ALL in the ring for his title reign.

I was curious in general.to the reaction to Hangman having a quick program with Archer. More so cause some seemed so negative or indifferent towards it. I loved the match and felt that it did exactly what it needed to do by giving Hangman another very good match to his title reign to help get him over as a badass.
I've also said during the Danielson matches that I don't think Hangman got enough credit for how good those and the Kenny match were, and I think this match continues to show thay Hangman is a true ace

The ref-assisted Buckshot is one of those moments where it'll get replayed for ages and pretty much show off why Page is such a resilient babyface. He overcomes the odds by using his environment to his advantage and if he can't do the Buckshot the normal way, he'll find a way to do it because he knows he'll end it.

Page needed that, as did his reign. A perfect slugfest where both just went NUTS and all out to retain the title. That ending spot with the makeshift Buckshot into the tables was amazing
Vs Cole at Revolution should rule, Hangman's really coming into his own

That Buckshot Lariat is like some "Rock hits a People's Elbow in dress shoes" type shit to me. That was incredible as was this match. Hangman is really proving himself as the Bret Hart of AEW right now. He's that Sting-like champion they need.

Hangman just looks really good when he bleeds in matches. He sells it brilliantly.

But then AEW gave you like 20 minutes of reasons to actually f***ing care

It was like watching Magnum TA/Barry Windham versus Abdullah the Butcher/Nikita Koloff. It hits all the beats of a classic NWA babyface champion title match.

I’ll admit that I was a bit worried that Hangman was starting to get a bit overshadowed by all the attention that the CM Punk/MJF feud was getting and then the hype around the debut of Keith Lee this week, but goodness me, dude was bumping all the way for the business to wrench that attention back onto him, as is his right as the world champion. The Refshot Lariat through the tables to win it was a f***in’ inspired finish.

It makes me happy to see Hangman prove over and over again how great he is.

This and the one he hit off Kenny during Stadium Stampede make the Buckshot a way more versatile finisher than most situational/rope assisted ones, really clever spots.

It was a great match, and I kind of wouldn't mind Hangman having a TNT Title-style run with the world title. Just defend it in great matches frequently where he winds up being the underdog. That's what he does best. One other thought - I never want to see a Blackout onto the steps again. That just seemed like a stupid bump where one freak thing could really have hurt Hangman.

Started slow for me, but it really picked up as it went along and that finish was insane.

Fantastic match with a really creative finish
However, am I crazy or did a Texas Death Match used to have to have someone pinned before the ten count? I thought this last time but thought maybe it was a one-off, but isn't a Texas Death Match in AEW just a last man standing match? I'm very confused lol

Not quite a Last Man Standing as they established it could also end via submission? Not as relevant given neither Archer nor Hangman use submissions, but useful to distinguish.

I appreciated that they took the top rope down really early - probably made the match a lot more hot, since all of a sudden, everyone was hooked into the question of how Hangman would win, and that carried the intrigue well for a foregone conclusion match.
