Didn’t watch, but have to say that the Chamber match is another one where I really don’t understand the gimmick’s purpose if you’re not going to use it as a big rivalry enhancer, given how dangerous and “barbaric” or whatever it’s supposed to be. Some gimmick matches work without a big feud behind them just for the fun chaos they can offer (ladder matches tend to best fit this moulin), but a big metal structure with chains and whatnot should really be a war zone, not a “let’s have a handful of top contenders earn a main event spot on our company’s biggest show” exhibition. By nature of having 6 wrestlers in the Chamber, it’s hard for it to be a 6-way blood feud. Hell in a Cell wise, the only one that went the multi-man route that I can remember is that 6-way where Rikishi was thrown off the Cell.

I give it a 5. Outside of the chamber matches this felt like a lot of filler. Goldberg and Lita both getting title matches, the tag match not even happening, Charlotte getting bored and leaving her tag match. Was a bit of a letdown honestly.

But you still have to have *something* to make it pop; playing up how deadly and dangerous a gimmick match is and then having people enter and just hit some quick spots to pop the crowd like they’re in the Royal Rumble doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s like when they do a Last Man Standing stip but book the ending to be someone winning via technicality, like their opponents bootlaces got tied together and they couldn’t stand up or whatever. Why bother booking a “the entire gimmick is you have to beat your opponent down to the point they can’t respond to a ten count” match if you’re gonna end it on “ooh, I OUTSMARTED my opponent to win”? Just so, why bother with a big ass cage that you hype up as dangerous and whatnot if you’re not going to book a match that plays up any of that potential brutality?

Chamber matches are usually pretty long, brutal matches. The two at this show were faster than usual, but they did use the cage quite a bit for different spots. Obviously no blood, but I’d say they still use the Chamber to its potential in most matches.
