So to sum up, Ronda is a band aid on the women's division which is a stark mess, but she's not an every week competitor, hence why Naomi/Sonya has dominated the upper card and Charlotte/Ronda was kind of absorbed into it. Shotzi feels like she's not long for this roster the way she's being basically ignored anymore, Xia Li could be something but they're stop and start with her since her debut. Aliyah's... not great and is nothing more than a plucky underdog who isn't really climbing up that ladder especially right now.

The men's division? A f***ing trainwreck. Roman's Mania challenger is Brock for a reason, Sami's might be Johnny f***ing Knoxville, and the Usos have a bunch of tag team challengers with like, no credibility right now so it's probably New Day again because why be different?

So yeah, it's dire, it's very VERY dire, and no one feels even close to Roman right now and he's beaten everyone either far down the card or literally out of the company/off the roster and over to RAW that was worth a damn, and anyone still left he's also beaten. This is why the rumor is he keeps the belt for an entire other year to face The Rock... as f***ing disgusting as that sounds, Smackdown has backed themselves into a corner, and it feels like there's nothing else that can be done right now, and that's their fault for making Roman the end all be all for WAY too long tbh.

It's gonna be a slog to watch this show going forward, gonna take a lot to fix it and its problems. It'd sure be nice if they called up some NXT Talents to help fill out the roster and give it some new blood, but nah, that'd be silly...

They had no way of knowing Toni was going to quit, but it made turning Shotzi heel look even more ill-advised given she did nothing but lose since.

Yeah, the Magical Misery Tour would be over both shows instead of one (Which we are headed towards anyway... for at least a short time) new people won't be pushed towards the IC/US title... they'll just keep not getting used... Ronda/Charlotte/ Becky would be the women's division... sure what we got isn't MUCH better but Lashley, Drew, and Big E wouldn't have their title reigns without the split... and Bianca certainly wouldn't be on her way to a second Mania world title win.

They would, but what they do and what they should do are 2 different things. Theoretically ending the split would create fresh matches and not feel like such a slog, but like you say they'd just use the same people

And this is why it literally makes no sense, it's no different than why Rey Mysterio is/was over, all the cruisers in WCW, Dante Martin, let athletic dude do a bunch of cool shit and people will pop for it. It doesn't even require any god damn work at all.
