Pat is kinda a good interviewer but in this and the Brock one, I dunno, he is a bit OTT with the ass kissing

Yeah, man, even if he doesn’t make as much money from WWE as he does from his podcast (he’s said as much on his show, in fact), he ain’t going to mess up where his bread was buttered. Anyone expecting more than that is just setting themselves up for a letdown.

Pat did what you would expect a WWE employee to do in this situation and he did well. It was an entertaining interview. I just didn't see it that differently than the Austin podcast so the way they billed it with his first interview in 15 years seemed a bit off. It's not as if he sat down with someone from CNN or the Torch. He sat down with a guy on his payroll. It's fine, I just think some people hyped it up more than what we all knew it was going to be.

Vince should go on Hot Ones. Vince probably pours ketchup on his wings instead of the sauces.

This is the Mr. Burns pose right? So Mr. McMahon, how many times a day do you go to the can? Oh, about 40, I suppose... when are we going on the air?

This isn't really a WWE thing, this is a Pat thing. Covid stuff aside, he gushes over Aaron Rodgers, and if Tom Brady ever comes on the show, for-freakin-get about it! The butt kissing will know no bounds.

What about Pat McAffee, former punter for the Indianapolis Colts, screams that he’s trying to be a hard hitting journalist? Dude interviews guys he’s buddies with, or is a fan of, of course he’s not gonna ask hard hitting questions. I’m mildly surprised these guys aren’t drinking beer and passing joints during the interviews, it’s that sorta atmosphere.

It can't be as bad as how protective Skip Bayless is with Brady, right?

The only thing I saw of this was that dude Ryan's embarrassing tweet talking about how people will watch it for decades to come. I mean is that really a crazy thought? Vince is 76. Who knows how much time he has left on this earth or how many live interviews he ever does again. If this is one of the last conversations with one of America's most interesting and influential businessmen of the last 40 years, yeah that might make people analyze and watch it for the next couple of decades. As much of a complete scumbag he's been over the course of that time I'd hope not to be honest.

You certainly wouldn't want every interviewer to be like Pat... but people know more about Aaron Rodgers (and to a lesser extent, Vince McMahon) than they would have if it wasn't for him. And Pat did get Vince to pass comment on a lot of things like AEW, the Saudi's, releasing talent... he's a smart guy.

Also, for all my talk earlier about knowing where his bread is buttered…WWE is basically a hobby to him. The radio show deal he signed dwarfs anything WWE would ever really offer him so if WWE decided to let him go, he’d just shrug and carry on.

And Pat did get Vince to pass comment on a lot of things like AEW, the Saudi's, releasing talent... he's a smart guy. I wish more interviewers WERE like Pat, in that Pat treats his guests with respect and lets them talk, even if he doesn't agree with what they're saying. He pretty clearly didn't share Aaron Rodgers views on vaccinations, and had to hide a laugh when Rodgers said he got his vaccination information from Joe Rogan, but he still let Rodgers talk basically uninterrupted for 20 minutes and explain his side of things. Compare that with the big name sports journalists from ESPN. Stephen A Smith would let Rodgers get about 2 sentences out, then shout at him for the next 20 minutes. Jason Whitlock would try to convince Rodgers that getting vaccinated is racist, or maybe not getting vaccinated is racist, or maybe both. Probably both. Skip Bayless would try to be controversial by saying something so monumentally stupid that it derails the entire interview. Pat is the only one of that group that is more interested in promoting his guest than promoting himself. Or to put it another way, the only guy that doesn't treat an interview like it's a pro wrestling promo is the one that actually works in pro wrestling.

"When you graduate from WWE". So that is what is wrong with the company Vince thinks he is running a gawd damn community college. It makes me think of how Japanese talent agencies call it graduating when they fire one of their talents. It's such a corporate bullshit phrase.
