Thewhole premise was already pretty flimsy, but tonight took it to a whole new level of non-sense. Ok, Owens talks enough trash to get SCSA out of retir… to confront him on a talk show. But it’s all good. It may not be a match, but the probability of a can of whoop ass being opened is extremely high. So, like I said, it’s all good, right? Enter Seth Rollins. A man of such vision… that he’ll just do the same thing as his best friend, Kevin. But Kevin’s like "Oh, Hell No!" And points out some of the flaws in Seth's plan. But fails to point out the biggest one. The whole point of Austin showing up is so that he can confront KEVIN OWENS. Seth Rollins don’t mean shit about shit. But Sonya ain’t hearing none of that. A match that potentially puts one of our main attractions at risk sounds splendid. A decision so mind-numbingly stupid, that it almost makes her feel like a real member of WWE management

At this point, I think Cody’s signed and will answer an open challenge at Mania. Too many random hints tonight on commentary. Everybody knows what they’re doing and if Vince didn’t want it, it wouldn’t be happening. I can see that happening. But it's also out of character for Vince to not debut Cody in Jacksonville. Like "sticking it to AEW" in his mind would be WAY too tempting to pass up, and the stars aligned perfectly for it to happen. When else would an EVP from AEW leave, tease coming back, and on the home turf of the competition all in a short span of time? If Cody does debut at WM, I will be in awe of Vince's restraint b/c the man never seems to have any.

Gooooooooooooooood, I hate the “I’m a big star but can’t get a path to WrestleMania” angles. It was stupid with Cena and it’s worse with Seth “I was number one contender for the Universal title at the Royal Rumble and never got my fair rematch” Rollins. Also, there’s two goddamn nights at this point and you’ve used every recent WrestleMania before this point to get everyone on. At this point, I think Cody’s signed and will answer an open challenge at Mania. Too many random hints tonight on commentary. If Cody does debut at WM, I will be in awe of Vince's restraint b/c the man never seems to have any. Yeah, this was a guy who would use Atlanta Raws at the tail end of the MNW as victory laps over WCW and talk about how much he was kicking their ass, that guy would have ripped someone’s arm off to debut a former WCW guy there so the fact he didn’t take the bait about Cody is…it’s really weird.

It's alright, Seth. Take your seat at WWF New York. There's a meatball hoagie with your name on it.

It'd be more intriguing if that was the story but it very clearly isn't the story.

See this whole "I don't have a path to Wrestlemania" thing can work in the right circumstances.
The problem is that the two people they've done it with are top stars for whom it is in no way believable that they couldn't find SOMETHING at Wrestlemania. Do it with a young guy that you have high hopes for and then have a veteran come and give them their Wrestlemania match. It's not rocket science.

Yeah, like I can see a story of a lifelong jobber or a lower midcarder proclaiming that they want a match and doing well in the Rumble, fighting their way into Elimination Chamber qualifiers, trying to get a tag partner and accepting any open challenge put in front of them, that'd be a good way to build someone for a WrestleMania match to test it out. The company just re-signed Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins had two world title matches in the last two PPVs and they're concerned they can't get on WrestleMania? Come on now.

Hell, they basically did that with the Usos, playing up how they never had a match at Mania... and even then they f***ed it up because the payoff was being squashed by the Bludgeon Brothers to dead silence.

Oh God, that was what that story was, wasn't it? They had them squash them and the New Day at WrestleMania. Jeez.

I get it but it's supposed to be the place where you beat your rival's ass and/or ascend in front of wrestling biggest audience. Shit, at least say Superstars get more money Mania night.

This just reminds me of when I played Smackdown HCTP and I was world champion, IC champion hand lost a match in months was involved in the biggest company storylines, eliminated 20+ wrestlers in the rumble before getting dumped out and got left of the Mania card all together

Who cares about going after titles or settling the score with your rivals. As long as you're on the card, right? It's an extension of the "happy to be here" baby-face WWE has had for years. But what you expect from a company trying to make everything a "Wrestlemania moment". I guess Seth was supposed to Shane's opponent and they're scrambling for something else. I don't what they're gonna do if they haven't signed Cody.
