Watching this back, I forgot how many big names Cody's pinned. There's asterisks like handicap matches and interference and such to them, but he still has pinfall wins over HHH, Seth, and Reigns, and made HBK tap all in his first run. Also he beat Ezekiel Jackson. He totally needs to come out next week and confront Ezekiel and say, ‘I know you’re not Elias …’ and then go into how he remembers when Ezekiel was the last ECW champion and tell the story of how he pinned him, referring to Ezekiel Jackson but not realizing this isn’t the same guy … Or is it???!!!

Man, that’s going to be the most middle of the road, average, unimpressive, yet technically okay match that has ever existed.

You’ve got one guy who is the most WWE born and raised wrestler ever in Miz, and a guy who is a solid wrestler who perfectly fits into the WWE system in Cody. This should be the most average generic Raw match ever. Why do I have this strange feeling this is gonna end up being a shockingly good match?

Miz is a great WWE superstar, and he doesn’t get enough credit for that, but he’s not a particularly good wrestler. If WWE fired Miz tomorrow, I don’t see him really fitting in anywhere else unless he’s a manager/beating dummy. But, I don’t see them ever firing Miz, so it’s kind of irrelevant. Cody, however, has shown he can fit in pretty much anywhere (his NJPW run was a little dicey) but fits best in WWE

SRS said Cody's promo was unscripted so that's pretty interesting too. He said everything he needed to say, he made sure he recognized the legends who held that title, he poured so much emotion into it and he had the entire crowd in the palm of his hand. Masterful. He's improved so much. This seems to be getting contradicted. Zarian said he knows it was scripted cause he saw it.

I'm guessing it was a collab effort similar to what Owens and Zayn do with their promos where they work directly with the writer to craft a fully scripted promo. It also lets us know how much they'll work with Cody.

I said he he wouldn’t really fit in to another wrestling promotion. Matt Cardona is a significantly better wrestler then Miz

Miz was one of AJ Styles' first matches, something some people got really pissy about. Then the matches happened and were genuinely quite good, and not just because of AJ. It's sort of like how I'd never say Miz was better than Kevin Owens, as he simply isn't, but Miz's matches with AJ Styles are better than any of Kevin's with AJ. Chemistry can be weird like that, and how basic Miz is can sometimes make him surprisingly versatile.

Likely too expensive for anyone other than AEW who likely wouldn't make a significant play for him.

Matt Cardona is a significantly better wrestler then Miz I haven’t seen a lot of Cardona on the indies but he was a pretty poor to average in-ring worker in WWE, I thought. He's been doing well because he's surprisingly a very effective heel. I think it also helps he's in fantastic shape these days. Sometimes in WWE, maybe due to the schedule, he'd get less defined, or maybe he made a concerted effort to just be more ripped than ever before on leaving WWE. I didn’t say he wouldn’t be hired, if you have a chance to hire Miz you’d be a fool not to. I said he he wouldn’t really fit in to another wrestling promotion. Likely too expensive for anyone other than AEW who likely wouldn't make a significant play for him. I imagine it'd largely come down to him doing stuff if he felt like doing it, rather than needing the money. Not that I think he's going to be cheap, exactly, but I could see him doing something just out of a desire to, but yeah, his non-wrestling ventures are successful enough to not likely need to keep wrestling if he didn't want to.
