Honestly, I’ll go to my grave saying Hunter was better on stick then he was in ring. Not saying his matches were bad at all, he was outstanding with the right dance partner. But my strongest memories of Hunter are mic work. Naturally a very funny guy, can’t mask that even with heel work. Vividly remember one RAW where the crowd was so hot and he’s doing his “Are you ready?!?” bit and it’s killing him not to smile. He gets as far as “For the thousands in attendance…” before he drops character a bit and just goes “And dammit, it’s my friggin’ birthday!” to a huge pop.
Lots of the little moments and line drops where he can just let Paul out a bit. Him trying not to corpse as Shawn kicks Stan, feeding into Hogan during a promo leading to their Backlash match for the Undisputed title (That roar as Hogan is ripping off his shirt is equal parts character work as it is a mark out), just the moments where he has to be surprised he’s getting paid for this.
Have to acknowledge the two really great moments though - MSG 2002 being the first. I remember being at a Raw in August 2001 and Stephanie in mid promo acknowledged Triple H being on the shelf and the crowd got so hot. One guy a few feet away screamed “Restart The Game!” which just got people hotter. So you knew the crowd was dying for him to be back. But that pop when Motörhead kicked in, man… you can’t measure or quantify it. I know initially Hunter was just thinking “Don’t cry, don’t cry…” when he first got out there.
The other was what I consider Hunter’s WrestleMania 3 moment - the opening moments in ring at NXT Arrival. Vince has said when he was opening Mania 3 that he felt like his dad was there with him and he struggled for a second before roaring “Welcome to WrestleMania 3!!!”. Hunter was exactly the same feeling the crowd at Arrival before going into “Are you READY?!?!?” The moments you just feel the moment and everything hits and you need that moment before “OK, go to work.”
That’s what I’ll remember and miss most about Triple H. Just those moments where you were so happy for him and felt his own happiness. It’s been such a run and I hope people remember those moments too.

As has been said so many times but from 1999 to 2001 you'll be hard pressed to find a better heel in wrestling... heck in 1998 he was also an amazing face that was easy to like. And while the Reign of Terror had a lot of bad moments you cannot argue that Hunter didn't do right by Batista or Benoit when dropping the belt to them.
I will also say this, even at his worst when he was a heel Triple H never had a problem making himself look like an idol in segments (in a good way). His neee at times to be seen as thr biggest bad ass of all time may have fallen flat a couple times but I think that's cause that's just not who he is (and again I mean that in a good way)
Triple H leaves a complex legacy due to being married to Stephanie but he absolutely has a legacy to celebrate

I hated the Reign of Terror when it was happening, but in retrospect it wasn't that bad aside from the Booker T/WrestleMania 19 part. The Roman Reigns reign of terror feels like it has been twice as long, and at least there were small breaks where someone else was champion. Roman's run isn't a 'reign of terror'

One of the all-time greats, for sure. He has countless “moments” and great matches that will live on forever. He even improved his in-ring game later in his career by getting more lean (the Bryan match, the Rousey debut match and the Ambrose match standing out the most).
He also had the loudest and longest sustained pop I’ve ever heard in-person with his 2002 return from his quad injury.

For anyone who's bummed he didn't get a final match. Let's just pretend Summerslam 2012 was his last match. That was pretty much the booked storyline of how he would've wanted it anyway.

This huge outpouring from people in the business shows us that Trips ain’t no where near as bad as we all make him out to be.

Jim Cornette talked about Triple H.'s interview on one of his podcasts this week and he raised an interesting point that I didn't think of. He said that Triple H. was the only member of the "kliq" that didn't have any bad habits (like drug our alcohol problems). Even though he was often around people who drank and did drugs, he never went down the same path that they did.

Yeah, that has always been HHH thing The joke early on was basically HHH was the driver because he was the only sober one out the group. Credit to him tho from staying away from the bad vices as even when he forged his own path and was still in a locker room full of guys and women who did that shit, he still never did it

For me, the best thing HHH ever did was give me a chance to appreciate Ultimate Warrior one last time.
This was my favourite wrestler growing up and despite the controversies it was good to see him take his place in the HOF thanks to H's efforts.

Nash has outright said as much in a few different shoot interviews.
