Match of the night easily. I loved it. Epic stuff. Maybe should have main evented but Austin’s first match in 19 years I guess it had to be really. In the words of Joey Tribbiani, it's a moo point. Putting Bianca/Becky last would've meant giving Austin/Owens a backseat. And as you mentioned, that wasn't going to happen. Instead, the match went where it went and Bianca and Becky came out smelling like roses after putting on a great match that everyone agrees deserved higher billing. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Ronda gave detractors even more fuel to criticize them. And even if the women's matches swapped places, going second-to-last means little in the grand scheme of things. Essentially, short of going on after Austin/Owens, this was the best-case scenario for Bianca and Becky. I think so. Think going on just before Cody v Seth helped too. Ronda & Charlotte couldn’t follow Becky v Bianca I didn’t think they could either.

I mean, the examples you're using don't really fit somewhat; AJ/Nakamura wasn't really that hyped outside of "This match'll be good" which is fine but it also wasn't really doing much when the only real WWE thing they have is a) they came into the company together from NJPW and b) that one MITB confrontation everyone went mad for. The only time they even referenced the Wrestle Kingdom match was during the match itself which, again, fine, but there wasn't that context going in (along with where it was on the card but that was something "solved" with the two day Manias). FTR/Bucks, if anything, fits the Bianca/Becky example more than you'd realize. The build to that match was a mess, all sorts of weird betrayals and side stuff that delayed things and, if anything, the match made the build worth it, albeit made me think why they went the direction they did with it. That was a match that needed something simple like "Hey, we're FTR, we want to fight the Young Bucks" and they win a bunch of matches to get it. It's not really a "callback" thing as much as it's like...just tell a straightforward story. One of the things that hurt Becky/Charlotte/Ronda was how many layers they put into the damn thing to make it almost not worth watching, and even the match itself was marred by a botch finish. I think we saying the same thing but just looking at it differently Essentially, stop the BS and keep a simple build that matches the importance of the match We seem to be haha. Like, if anything, Bianca/Becky should be praised for being the only match of Night 1 where the story for WrestleMania wasn’t resolved before WrestleMania and made you think "So...why are they fighting again?"

Great video package. Great entrances. Great match. Great storytelling all round. When they get it right, damn they get it right.

I loved it. With the glaring exception of any time Lynch did anything off the top rope, it was a high quality match and the right woman won.

If the end result was satisfactory, getting there isn’t really worth worrying about anymore Honestly, as time goes on, I just disagree with that. Some of that stuff, especially in recent history, just makes me go "Why did they go from Path A to G then to Z and then F and back to A and then to B when A to B is right there?" Like, regardless on if the outcome is good, I can't help but wonder why they make it so damn hard for themselves. Especially when they aren't going to reference the past events as much. It just feels like work for the viewer going back on. WWE makes it harder for themselves because Vince changes his mind a lot. If he settles on a final booking decision I think is good, then I’m done fretting about it. I’m just done.

It's like how a comedian will sometimes go from point A... completely avoiding point B... arriving at the less funny point C simply because the baguettes are fresher and less expensive. ... I just wanted to make a kids in the hall reference <_< A man sits through a 4 hour wrestling show, he expects a normal ham meal, not damn bastard brine!

If anything I'd have opened the show with it. It'd be a huge way to kick things off and I doubt the SmackDown tag title match would've torn the house down even if it had gone on as planned.
