Cancer on top of the strokes and dementia? Yikes. That sucks, I wish nothing but the best for him. I’m dirt poor right now, wish I could afford to help him

I saw a picture of him from last weeks 80s con show, he had a thin grey beard and some hair on the sides (balding on top) and looks like he just didn't care to shave. His eyes showed him feeling lost. It wasn't Virgil doing his normal "working" the fans gimmick. To me, they showed a man who is going through some troubles.

I saw him at the indy show that came after. I didn't go up to him as I met him before, among other reasons. Ironically, we call the practice of having met someone numerous times "Virgilizing"...long story! I know it might be easy to be cynical about this...but sadly this kind of bad luck is not unrealistic. I will wish Mike well either way.

I feel bad for Virgil

Paul Orndorff's son and Jericho donated to Virgil and he thanked them for that. He also tweeted some negative things about Ted Dibiase not calling to check on him and also for the scandal. He has since apologized. I'm sure he feels bad that Ted didn't reach out, he took the Billy Graham route in response, but it takes a big man to apologize. I know Ted was pretty frustrated with Virgil about 12 or so years ago because he had a banner that made it look like Ted was appearing at shows only for Ted to have no knowledge and be accused of "no showing."
I do feel bad for Virgil, with all these health issues all at once it just doesn't look like a good outcome. A friend of mine saw him at a recent show and Virgil kept looking to a fan with a Demolition shirt and kept repeating "Demolition. They are great guys." In the past Virgil would loudly call out to the fan wearing a certain shirt and try to hustle them over to his table. I'm guessing this may be the dementia setting in.

Well, this wasn’t a fun read: slamwrestling.net/index.php/2022/07/12/mat-matters-setting-the-record-straight-on-virgils-current-circumstances/Quick notes: - Virgil currently has Stage 1 gastrointestinal cancer, recently had two minor strokes and is showing signs of dementia - He has nothing to do with his Twitter account. It’s run by people using his name just like The Iron Sheik’s and he doesn’t even own a computer - A man named Shawn Raneri took Virgil in when he was on the verge of homelessness and he’s currently living in the Pittsburgh area - He mostly lives off of his Social Security payment and has trouble using his arms - He has very little contact with friends from inside the industry This is all very sad.

They mentioned him being born in 1951. I find that very surprising. I know Hogan, Piper and Dibiase and other contemporaries are/were around that age but it's just very surprising since he always looked so young and he would have been 40 when he got his big feud with Ted.
Whoever runs the twitter posted a scathing post about Ted Dibiase's scandal a few weeks back. Then tweeted an apology tweet and both tweets were under the guise of Virgil. I think this practice is really hurting wrestlers more than it's helping. Sure it got Sheik somewhat of a resurgence in popularity but Dibiase, if shown the tweet, can't exactly be happy about seeing it.

The Dibiase family has much much more to worry about than what VIgirl said on twitter. Brett is gonna do serious time, and I hope he finally gets help for his issues. Ted sr might do major time ,rumor is Ted's church was used to funnel the money Brett stole.

I saw a clip during Grim toy show where Grim was at the 80s Wrestling Con a couple months ago. He was at that event and you can tell he wasn't the same. He was very quiet, his had grey beard and hair starting to grow. He honestly looked smaller because his muscle mass as gone. Grim while being in character for the video. Kind came off like he knew something was off. Grim brought of a video they filmed a couple years ago where Virgil was at his house and watched a PPV. Virgil had no memory of that. Grim first was like you where at my house. How do you not remember me. Than a little later he was like that just sad. Which with Dementia your memory is all over the place, as for as what you do remember from the pass. But most cases what happened today, likely won't be remembered the next day. Its sad to watch.

A friend of mine was at that show too and I think this was before the health issues were known or maybe not long after. My friend said Virgil kept looking to a fan in another line with a Demolition shirt and saying "Demolition. They're great guys" repeatedly. It seems off to me and made me realize this wasn't the same old pushy Virgil from the past. In the past if he saw you wearing a shirt, he'd call you out with the name of the person on the shirt to get your attention to come to his table.

I'm not making light of his health problems but he's been showing signs of dementia for at least a decade now if you read some of the things he's said in interviews.

Ted sr might do major time ,rumor is Ted's church was used to funnel the money Brett stole. I'm sure the Dibiase family has more to worry about than fake Virgil tweets done by his friend but I still think it's crappy twitter allows this. It's crappy to allow this to be done by the Magan boys with Sheik, Mike Long the sexual offender with Buff and whoever else does it. Someone could seriously start some crap with someone else on twitter without someone ill or elderly's knowledge and it could lead to some real life issues. If Mike Jones is not mentally able to understand things, someone shouldn't be allowed to tweet BS fake tweets for him. I doubt Mike even knew about the Dibiase tweets and then once it became an issue the friend recanted and simply thanked Paul Orndorff's son and Jericho for donating. Twitter should censor this fake crap. If someone like Virgil's friend is tweeting stuff that could hurt him, that person is not a friend.
