Imagine devoting weeks of TV time for a one-match return on a PPV where she doesn't even matter and then going "Actually we dunno about this, not because it didn't work or anything, but because nah". But then instead of going back to the drawing board on it you just kinda let her hang out doing nothing. It's weird. And I'm not saying she should be let go or lose her job but if you've gone this far and this long without having her do something...why are you still paying her? You expect Nick Khan to be in Vince's office with a graph about her "amount per appearance" and wondering why she's still in the company. Like, it's why they let go of 95% of the people they did in 2020-2021. But then they kept Elias for 8 months and their best idea for him was "What if we did the Joe/Chris Parks angle but without 99% of why that thing worked in the first place?" so who knows?

If Creative have nothing for her, some other promotion should be willing to take her on, even if in a non-wrestling role.
She's clearly not valuable to WWE if Creative can't be whipped into providing ideas for her. Seriously, why isn't Creative spending an hour each day brainstorming ideas for everyone rather than, presumably, waiting on instructions from higher-ups knowing that 99% of their ideas will end up not being used?
Create a bank of angles/storylines/turns/feuds/whatever for _everyone_ you've got, throw copies of them all at Vince, then return to the writing room, rinse, repeat. Hell, keep copies of all this on hand so they can be recycled over and over again.

I’ll forever say it…if Vince f***ing Russo can find a spot on TV for you no matter if he hates you…no matter if the angle or gimmick is shitty or offensive…and your current “creative” setup can’t do the job they were hired to do and…I dunno…be creative…then You’ve got problems. Their structure has changed since those days. If they had a writer who was Russo like in the sense that he felt he could get anyone over, give everyone something to do and was vocal about the parts that sucked, they'd fire him in seconds. The WWE is a bureaucracy of the highest order these days and anyone truly trying to change anything wouldn't be received well. Oh trust me. I know how the current scheme works. The “creative has nothing for you” crutch truly means the old dude at the top is bored with you at the moment. (Plus the fact they laughed Vinny Ru out of the writers room in his short comeback for suggesting they do Invasion 2.0 with all of the WCW main eventers just to turn around and bring said main eventers in one by one anyways.) It’s just stupid as hell they have 10+ hours of tv a week and say they have nothing for someone to do. We have to sit through hours of WWE ads and recaps but god forbid they find an angle for someone they consider a draw.

The WWE is a bureaucracy of the highest order these days and anyone truly trying to change anything wouldn't be received well. When they had Russo they didn't have fifty seven writers. TV was written by Vince's inner circle of people; at one time it was like Vince, Dunn, Jim Ross, Cornette, Prichard, Patterson, and Russo sitting by the pool putting television together. That's maybe not the squad I'd trust with TV, but it's smaller than it is today and voice meant something. They were people Vince was trusting to know wrestling and know how to make a wrestling show. Russo had trust and had the input to do that, and he was able to carry through. Nobody today has that power through how many voices there are that keep any one person from deciding much, and there's zero commitment to anything so it wouldn't even last.

My biggest worry has and will continue to be if she is healthy...As much as Alexa clicks with the audience she has proven to be a liability herself at times and thus it makes it difficult to write long-term storylines including lots of in-ring work. She is in a very weird spot as is a vast majority of WWE's "evolution" women Can’t believe you’re blaming Alexa. Maybe the blame should be on Ronda for being unable to twice perform a headlock takeover safely on Alexa and drive her head in the mat. Bliss had concussion issues in 2018, a shoulder injury in 2019, and then the recent injury (sinus?) in 2021.

If them axing Braun Strowman last year didn’t prove it, them apparently having nothing for Alexa Bliss, someone who four years ago was the king shit of the women’s division putting careers in danger because of how strong she was booked, shows how fleeting the whole golden child thing may end up being if circumstances go in a certain way.
“Oh, it won’t happen to so-and-so”… It might not, but it definitely bloody well could.

Bliss had concussion issues in 2018, a shoulder injury in 2019, and then the recent injury (sinus?) in 2021. Those concussions came from house show matches with Ronda if I recall correctly, and that shoulder injury initially came from a match with Nia (big surprise there) in 2018; Alexa reinjured it in 2019. Anyway Alexa just got married and has mentioned in the past about wanting to start a family; if WWE isn't working with her at all creatively I could easily see her just retiring when her contract is up. Baffling how you can't or won't come up with any ideas for a gorgeous charismatic woman who sells a ton of merch but that's WWE for ya.

Last time WWE "creative" had any meaning, Alexa was about 9 years old.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of Alexa Bliss the performer, but I do like Alexa Bliss as a person. She really does seem like someone who really will just give it her all despite her lack of size or athletic prowess. And you know what? She got over. I don't know if Bliss has ever really NOT been over.
I hate being so.. dour, but what is wrong with your creative process when you can't find ANYTHING for her to do?

"Here's the stuff we have for Bianca and Alexa's new feud." "Here's stuff for Alexa and (insert opponent here.)" Here's stuff for the entire goddamned roster for the next ten years. We'll be in the writing room if you need us." Sit on one's ass for the next ten years, occasionally spending a day reviewing the copies of old material and writing new material for call-ups and such. That's how the writing room can run itself - just generate shittons of ideas for everyone and have it on tap and ready to submit to Vince - repeatedly send copies of the old stuff until either the originals fall apart or the top-level copy is so faded Vince or his descendents can't read it for it being so faint. You're right - creative would be the easiest job on the planet.

People should really watch Kevin Nash shoot videos if they think booking creative is easy.
I think with Alexa, her time has passed. She's just not believable as a heel with the likes of the women on the roster. As a face, she's very popular but doesn't fit the mold of what they want in a top champion(someone who is a really good wrestler and Alexa is decent but not great). She's also injury prone.
I wouldn't have her fight Bianca as you risk splitting the crowd and you shouldn't put the big belt back on her for the reasons I listed before. So you would just hurt Bianca. I wouldn't have to face Ronda as we've seen how that turns out. Maybe against Flair but then you'd have to have her beat Ronda so nah.
Then you have Asuka and Bayley supposed to be returning soon. I wouldn't have her be above either of those women either.
So what do you do with her? I think she and liv would make a fine team. But I think she needs to be a tag team specialist as that hides a lot of weaknesses and could keep her fresh. Maybe she and Zelina in a female Pitbulls type of tag team?
But, I do think they need to find something to do with her. But I understand why it's hard to book her at this point.

WWE is so bizarre to me right now. You constantly see the criticism that the roster is shallow and stretched thin, but then you simultaneously see stories like this one, where arguably the most consistently over woman on the roster for the last 5 years can't even find a place on the card.
So many of WWE's "issues" feel so clearly self-inflicted.

Not pertaining particularly to Alexa, who has bee out too long — I could have seen not starting an angle going into WM if she was getting married and holding off for a Raw after WM return, but this exceeds that — but there is a disconnect between ‘the WWE schedule is too rigorous, people need time off’ and ‘so-and-so hasn’t been on my TV in a few weeks, they need to release them if they’re not going to use them.’
Like there are already ‘if Roman isn’t going to be on Raw then he needs to drop one of the belts so the champ can be on every week.’ The guy is for now holding both belts thus doing double duty, missing a Raw or SD here or there to keep his grind reasonable shouldn’t be an issue.
There’s a balance to be found there. Alexis being gone so long isn’t it, but I don’t see why giving various talent downtime for a month or two here and there isn’t actually a good thing — keeps them fresh but as a character and for their own mental and physical well-being.

Not to make this a WWE v. AEW thing, but it's interesting to me that AEW often draws criticism for essentially doing exactly that. When talent isn't being actively "featured" in AEW they are usually either on the YouTube shows exclusively, or absent altogether. Miro, currently, is a great example. When he returns he's going to be refreshed and it's going to feel like a major deal. I have always argued that cycling people in and out like that is actually a good thing. That's the silver lining here, I suppose. When Alexa does finally return, I think fans are going to be extremely enthusiastic for it. She's been gone for so long at this point that it'll feel almost like a "new" signing when she does finally come back.

Speaking only for myself, and not to make it an AEW vs. WWE thing, but it works better for me if a character takes time off between angles than starting something, getting a crowd into it and developing some momentum, and then them disappearing for three or four weeks only to come back to further the same angle and it’s gone cold. Like you mentioned with Miro — perfect: he’s gone but he finished a program, he’s taking time off, when he comes back you can start up something fresh and it will be exciting to see him back. But don’t drop KO-Ezekiel after last night and come back in mid-May and act like it’s going to be the same as coming back next week.

In fairness to WWE creative, it’s possible some there DO have ideas for her.
But if Vince is not interested, nothing else matters.

In fairness to WWE creative, it’s possible some there DO have ideas for her. But if Vince is not interested, nothing else matters. I forget who it was, but years ago some years-tenured WWE write went onto a podcast and he talked about how ideas were being thrown around all the time for talent who weren't on TV. All kinds of stories and segments and hooks for character stuff, but none of it mattered if Vince wasn't interested in using them or putting in the work. It's a thankless job, and when you look at what usually makes TV in terms of how paint by numbers it is and how little they will do anything to break out of their patterns and habits, you kind of have to wonder why they have writers at all.
