Today marks the 20th anniversary of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. From "I'm something of a scientist myself" to "Who am I? I'm Spider-Man." And all points in between. For many, this was their fist exposure to Spidey.
Here's to another 20 years of Spider-Man films.

I’ll never forget going to see this movie. Was the opening of my town’s big new movie theater. Was a giant crowd for the showing and I remember the extremely long line I waited in to get tickets. What a great movie and I still love watching the original Spider Man movie 20 years later.

That theme will always be so iconic to me Danny Elfman created two iconic Superhero themes, Batman and Spider Man.

This movie and the 90s animated series got me into Spiderman. And it don't take long for the comics themselves to get you out of it

And before that Bonesaw reminded Hogan of his role:

There was a Wizard article a few years before that had done its best to explain the twisted rights situation to Spider-Man. The James Cameron movie never got made because of how bad it was. Wizard basically concluded that nothing would ever happen until someone just spent a fortune to buy everyone out of their stake on the rights.
I dont know how much it cost Sony but it seems to have worked out well for them.

It’s the only live action Spider-Man movie (Up to and including No Way Hone) where I can’t remember where I saw it. I know I was still living in New Jersey and 19, my 20th birthday still being a month or two away, but I can’t remember what theater I went to and if I saw it alone or went with someone. I can remember all those details for every other live action Spider-Man man film.

I saw this film the same day England were knocked out of the World Cup by Brazil in 2002. The game finished at 9 in the morning or something like that (game was played in Japan so most games were on early morning U.K. time) and you could just feel everyone being so down that our World Cup dreams were over…and then having to go to work, college, school whatever.
Whether in preparation for this event or as a celebration I guess if England had won, our college class got to go to our local cinema to see Spider-Man. A bad day turned into a good one. I remember getting a synopsis of the film by the College and Randy Savage being on the cast list and being like “The Randy Savage? Na can’t be!”.

It was the first movie to make $100 million at the box office in a weekend and made the cover of Time magazine for pulling that off.
Interestingly, all the 100 milestones were hit by Marvel characters: Spidey broke $100 million, Avengers was the first $200 million weekend and Endgame will likely be the only $300 million opening.

This came out the week or the week before my high school let out for Summer vacation sophomore year, and my two best friends I went and saw it the night it opened after school let out.
Really a throwback to a good time in my life, but I think it's also a pretty awesome movie on it's own.

Loved it. The Raimi Spidey flicks were such pivotal movies of my youth.
Edit: I remember seeing the WTC trailer before some movie in the theater and just absolutely marking out. I’d been following the development of Spidey flicks (or lack thereof) through Wizard mainly. I was scared the so-called “Spidey curse” was real. Then boom: this just changed everything.

Green Goblin might be one of the best villains in a comic book movie. I was so happy Willem Dafoe came back for No Way Home and killed it again.

Simmons was great and Defoe was legendary, but I didn't care for the movie in 2002, and I struggled to get through it rewatching last year.

First two movies are great. Third one is shit. The second Raimi Spidey movie is still my favorite one. His trilogy was basically like The Godfather saga. Classic first two films and an extremely disappointing final chapter.

Watching Oz forever ruined this movie for me. All I can picture is JK Simmons as Jonah Jameson saying “You’re my livestock Parker. Your spider-ass belongs to me!”
