www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-61412523Never heard of this promotion before, sounds like a very regional one. Obviously BritWres has been dealing with a lot of baggage lately due to Speaking Out and such, so it is unfortunate to see more negative press coming due to sheer stupdity.

Like, it's just common sense booking. Don't book a death match on a family friendly show. If your talent go over to you and say "We want to do a deathmatch" and kids are in the audience...tell them to F*** off and hope TNT are extremely f***ing desperate for talent at some point.
Like, for all the ragging people do about AEW's hardcore matches and the like, they're running the shows at a late enough time on a Wednesday where it's not advertised as family friendly.

See I wanna know what a 3 out of 5 doors match is
Is it like a multi fall table match but doors instead of tables? Is it 3 out of 5 falls but they all take place in differently themed rooms? What? WHAT?

WHAT? pretty much the first one. A lot of indy places buy cheap doors instead of tables because they're more likely to break when you actually want them to.

I'm not a deathmatch fan but they have a place in wrestling, just like every other type of wrestling does. That place isn't unadvertised on a show in front of tons of kids though.

I love me some deathmatch wrestling, but "family-friendly" and "unadvertised deathmatch" are not compatible terms at all.
Hell, I just came from an all-ages show that did a deathmatch main event, and they both advertised it ahead of time and put it last, and then warned the audience before the main event what that entailed so anyone could move their seat back or leave early. And they didn't go and start using weedwhackers either so no one was cut up that badly.

One of these. Strimmer might only be a British term thinking about it, don't think I've ever heard US TV say it.

One of these. Strimmer might only be a British term thinking about it, don't think I've ever heard US TV say it. I think it's a black and decker brand that's become genericised, like Xerox and such. It's a portmanteau of String Trimmer.

Yeah, in the US, this is almost always called a weed whacker, I think.
As for the story, absolute lunacy. Also, why would you do an unadvertised deathmatch, like, at all? Even setting aside the children, that seems like the kind of thing you'd want to advertise to pop ticket sales.

Promoter plans a nice surprise for the kiddies and this is what he gets for his effort.

I'm calling bullshit on the promoter claiming he had no idea that the death match was going to take place.
But seriously what a bunch of massive f***wits.

One of these. Strimmer might only be a British term thinking about it, don't think I've ever heard US TV say it. Yeah, I had figured it was a trimmer but had never heard that term for one before. Was starting to wonder about the word "strimmer" and it's origins... what does it mean to strim something?

Was starting to wonder about the word "strimmer" and it's origins... what does it mean to strim something? To the Collins English Dictionary! strim in British English (strɪm IPA Pronunciation Guide ) VERB Word forms: strims, strimming or strimmed (transitive) to cut (grass) using a Strimmer Helpful, Collins. However, someone else in the thread explained that Strimmer was a portmanteau brand name for a string trimmer and the name just stuck, like hoover.

I'm calling bullshit on the promoter claiming he had no idea that the death match was going to take place. Even if he didn't, what did he think, that the wrestler who turned up with a strimmer was going to do a bit of gardening afterwards? What a twonk.
