I kinda don't hate this idea, if only since the finale we got was absolutely shit. It's not like it's going to sully anything. I remember hating the finale when it aired. Fox promoted it as a legit Series Finale but it ended up being some random twoparter with zero sense of closure.

Hmmmm.....seems odd seeing as Ed spent 10 seasons or so making us forget Al Bundy with the good job he did on Modern Family, but hey, if he and the others want to do it.
The Amanda Bearse thing can be solved by,I dunno...maybe new neighbors?
Then the elephant in the room...how appropriate is the humor NOW? Yeah certain shows, usually animated, get a free pass these days (but even Family Guy now holds back on certain things).

I re-watched the series a few years ago, I’d say 95% or more of the humour you could get aware with now. The questionable stuff is generally presented in a way that would work. Even the “He’s a homo Peg” when Al and a gay guy are worried their spouses are having an affair punchline is dropped after spending an entire episode (maybe even a 2 parter) being pretty positive towards gay people. There’s language you probably couldn’t use now, but the jokes were rarely malicious.

The show had its moments, and I'm trying not to get too political here, but I really feel like there are way too many people in the world today that took Al's rantings way too seriously. They project themselves onto them and replaced the "fat woman in the shoe store" with whatever group they have a gripe with now, and see themselves as Al Bundy-esque heroes fighting for a way of life that only exists in their rose-tinted nostalgia. I'm not really sure releasing a fresh barrage of this into todays world is a smart thing to do.

We're scoffing now, but remember how we all mocked Bel Air and it turned out to be,,actually pretty good?

Strangely enough, the night before this news dropped, I had a dream about seeing an animated show advertised on tv that featured those four as the voices for the lead characters. It started with someone else watching saying "this is just a rip-off of Married With Children!" And sure enough, they just started doing gags from the original, just kind of clip-show style, but presented as an on-going narrative (if that makes any sense).

I'm not really sure releasing a fresh barrage of this into todays world is a smart thing to do. That’s why it works as a cartoon. As Mike Reiss pointed out in his book, it’s ok to make all the fat dumb guy jokes you want about Homer Simpson, Dan Castellaneta will never get offended, but for some reason, no one noticed Roseanne’s weight on her show.

I'm kind of up for it. Show never really got an ending and was kind of falling off by the end anyway, at worst it's not going to do anything to damage the original and at best maybe it'll work as a more satisfying conclusion to it. The Al/Peggy split-up and reconciliation was the true finale IMO. Anything after was just extra.

Really hope this show ends up having a decent art style instead of falling into the trend of how most adult animated shows look horrendously offputting. Really will kill any desire to watch this thing if it looks like one of those disgusting pseudo-realistic Adult Swim shows or something.

Not a good idea. The original, which I loved, worked briefly for a time in the early 90s but the novelty soon faded. Plus in today’s climate, somebody somewhere will be offended if they use the humour of the original.
Just leave the original as is it.

There are plenty of people for Al to attack. It used to be yuppies. Well now we still gave rich, but we also have hipsters. Instead of jokes about fat women at the shoe store you have Karens.

Is this legit or fan made?
Otherwise I'll believe it when I see it. It could be on the same fantasy station or streaming The Raccoons reboot is on.
Scary thought: MWC belongs to Sony. So did Good Times. Think about it
P.S. whoever made the above forgets the MWC timeline. Buck sadly passed on.

If Amanda Bearse isn't involved, how good could it be? I was still shocked how long it took me to find out how her and Ed O'Neil hated each other toward the end Faux pas moment. At a con like 5-6 years ago, not knowing this I asked Amanda if she watched Modern Family too...

Mixed feelings. Voice work is a good option for Ed and Katie at this stage of their lives and careers. But this feels unnecessary and repetitive; adult animated shows are over abundant.

I was still shocked how long it took me to find out how her and Ed O'Neil hated each other toward the end In recent years Ed has said it’s all his fault that they did not get along. He admitted he now understands why she felt the way she did and regrets it. I mean, it decades too late but still.
