I always found it odd that the dirt sheets made McCool out to be a huge asshole and that Taker was always pulling strings for her which is why McCool held the title for so long and was featured so heavily as the centerpiece of the women's division. Even though personally I found McCool subpar at best and found Layla to be the star of the LayCool pairing. But on Maria Kanellis' YouShoot interview Maria said she never heard anything like that and said that McCool was never difficult to work with and that she had never heard anything about Taker pulling strings for McCool. I'm not sure why Maria would lie about this if it wasn't true? It's possible Undertaker would just do it on his own volition, or for McCool to just not start issues with the other women directly and go to creative. Of those two, I'm more inclined to believe it'd be the former, since yeah, I haven't really ever heard any of the women badmouth her before.

Heck, when she and Melina were being chewed out for having too good of a match, it was Jericho that jumped in and defended them. She didn't throw around her relationship with Taker. So, yeah it's probable it was more Taker doing it on his own. One thing that shouldn't be overlooked in Prinze's story is that Steph was trying to get the women's division improved status in the company. It was also somewhat echoed in AJ Lee's interview with Renee, when she said that she and Steph would go over her promos. So it wasn't Steph just deciding out of the blue that the women's division needed to matter. It was of course the guy at top who didn't give a shit.

They had a PPV match where they were given 8 minutes or so, so they did kind of a spot fest with big moves like a DDT with both of them standing on the guardrail and not a lot of selling. Management had wanted a more basic match, so they didn't like it.

This is the same company that got mad at Paul London for taking that insane Royal Rumble elimination bump and nearly killing himself for them "because it was too good and was selfish and took away from the other people still in the match". Even though it was actually putting over Gene Snitsky (the guy who eliminated London) and he was trying to just make the match better by taking a risky bump.

Yeah, it made Snitsky look like a f***ing monster that his clothesline turned London inside out like that...

The spot was absolutely insane and probably got the loudest reaction of anything on the card. To find out years later that London got in trouble for it was completely ridiculous but par for the course for WWE. It probably bruised Orton and Triple H's egos that that one spot by London got a louder reaction than anything either one of them did in their snooze fest match against each other earlier that night.

No, it was the rematch a month later at Night of Champions.

What's the story there? youtu.be/7r3fWH8tX-cMcCool and Melina were reprimanded for the spots in their match looking better than some of the guys, which Chris Jericho overheard and stuck up for them saying “if the guys can’t follow what the girls are doing they need to step it up” and complimenting them on doing great. The women had a lot of restrictions on their matches back then, including an occasion where Victoria and McCool were sent back out during a Smackdown taping because they were told the punches in the match looked too good.

That's a damn shame. It's an even bigger shame that under Johnny Ass and Bruce Prichard it looks like this is what they want the women's division to revert back to.

Thought this thread would be about Michelle smuggling Malaysian slaves Or attacking Triple H with a screwdriver. Or putting a blue dot over her face.
