God, after replaying the original, it's crazy how full of mood and atmospheric this game is compared to the original. There are parts of the original that are very atmospheric and there are bits here that I don't care for like the smokey floors everywhere but just looking at the castle entrance and Garrador prison, the original feels so much more plain and artificial looking by comparison.

I'm more and more coming down on the side of going ahead and taking the plunge on this at launch, it just looks really damn good.

Oh please let him do a self-satisfied nod after that while Sadler looks confused.

"Chainsaw Demo" out today.
This won't be a "oneshot", meaning you can play as many times as you want.
Edit: It's out now.

Just played it twice and it's really good. Some Notes:
This game is brutal. I've been killed by a chainsaw from the front and back, had my neck broken, and my eyes gouged out.
There seems to be more effort in making the game a bit more "Resident Evil" and there are more locked doors.
The village fight is hard and I died multiple times. There are probably at least ten enemies after you at once, and they all want to f*** you up.
Dr. Salvador is hyped up in this. He gets two cutscenes during the fight and other villagers will stop in presence to point you out to him. I'm not sure if he could hurt other villagers in the original but he does here.
Unlike RE: Village, resources now take up inventory.
The bingo line is in.

Okay good. I was getting frustrated by the enemies f***ing me up and I'm glad I'm not the only one lol. I been playing Callisto Protocol and this is significantly more intimidating and it's just the first level

Playing a few more times, it seems that the difficulty of this game is going to come entirely from the amount of enemies thrown at you at once. Parrying is fairly easy and you can kill enemies with one bullet and a roundhouse kick or a stealth kill. But I've died multiple times in the village fight because there are so many enemies after you at once and they are relentless. At one point a room I was in was literally filled with about ten villagers and they easily killed me.

I'll give it a go after work, yes after work (koff koff), definitely not before.
In all seriousness I've always found the remakes better with headphones on as the 3d audio is pretty good, even with bluetooth headphones connected to the telly.

How stressful is it for the heart? Sadly I can't take horror games well anymore, but RE4 is a favorite of mine.

One guy gets burned alive, and the death animations include: getting impaled with a chainsaw, getting your eyes gauged out, getting an ax to the face, and getting decapitated with an ax.

Gore is fine. I just can't handle much tension from being chased, having to move a lot when I'm not the most skillful player with more limited control schemes, constantly hearing threats without seeing them and being jump scared. I fear this one might be too stressful an experience in that regard.

I fear this one might be too stressful an experience in that regard. That's a bit trickier because you definitely will be chased and swarmed. As I said earlier, the game throws at least 10 enemies at you at once and they can all fill a small room with you in it. The biggest difference from the original is that you're expected to be constantly moving, hopping through windows, and checking your six. As for jump scares, so far they're not really any, closest I can think is getting caught in a bear trap that are much harder to spot than the original. But this is RE and jump scare should be expected later on. Enemies will shout if they spot you though.
