Bret and Hulk also had some house show matches in WCW in August/Sept 99 usually going to a no-contest when Rick Steiner and the West Texas Rednecks interfered. Rick Steiner and the West Texas Rednecks? That seems incredibly random, even for 1999 WCW. That's like a modern day Roman vs. Brock match going to a No Contest because the Viking Raiders do a run-in. Now I want their SummerSlam match to end like that.

Oh wow! I wonder why Mick didn't mention those others? Also, I am sad there's no fan-cam footage of any of those. Mick has taken many many unprotected head shots in his time, he probably forgot. It makes sense though, the WWF roster was pretty thin from 1996-1997, especially on top. Them not having a fresh match-up between two main eventers on the house show loop would be more surprising. I took that into consideration but somehow Mick still has an amazing recall for most things. Far better than he has any right to honestly. His Podcast is definitely a must listen for Foley fans. Or wrestling fans in general I'd say.

I have to update and correct my own post. According to Foley himself on a recent episode of his Podcast he had TWO matches against Bret. One on Shotgun and another at a house show. According to Wrestlingdata.com, Bret and Mick faced each other several times... link to pageI was at the Birmingham 1996 House show match. From what I remember they did brawl into the crowd briefly.

Hogan vs Goldberg AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal AJ Styles vs The Undertaker Paul Heyman vs Jim Cornette Randy Orton vs Brock Lesnar I'm shocked Orton vs Lesnar has only happened once. They beat Orton vs Cena and Cena vs Lesnar into the ground. Plus the natural rivalry of both being top guys almost immediately and coming up around the same time. The match was what it was but I’m glad it happened at Summerslam where they both won their respective world titles for the first time.

The match had a great build & was actually pretty good... then it just ended with that work shoot BS.

Just found another one on WrestlingData.com...
Roddy Piper and Abdullah teamed several times in Japan in 81 and 82, but wrestled against each other only once.
