One thing I've found frustrating is the eye rolling from certain parts of in Internet about Tama Tonga getting a big push. Because God the crowd LOVES him. It has very 2012 Karl Anderson energy where, yes, he's not on the same level in ring wise, but he's their homegrown guy and he's getting their shot and they love him for it. If they have the title match at Royal Quest it's a terrible decision. This match needs to be in front of the home crowd and needs to get that OMG HE MIGHT DO IT reaction. A few years ago, I'd have maybe been skeptical due to some of his singles pushes being duds in the past, but I think the problem was that his heel run had gotten stale, since this singles run has been pretty decent so far. He has good babyface heat, and I like that he got a measure of revenge on White.

Tama Tonga is a natural babyface. Things went wrong for him when he originally joined Bullet Club, as he was getting good reactions from the crowd for someone who was not getting pushed in any way, shape or form, and then became stale for years. Figures that it was him turning face again after a decade and the public basically begging to cheer him that gives him the reactions he deserved all along.

It's one of the things that keeps me invested in New Japan. That they have guys who've spent their entire career there from trainee to main event and the home crowd is SO invested in that development. For a guy like Tonga to finally be put in that position is why I still put time and and money in this company.

Kojima came to NOAH with a goal to prove that he can still wrestle at an elite level. Heβs done it. Unlike a lot of older and more established talent, Kojima has proven himself worthy of his spot without bringing anyone else down in the process.
Even no names like Jack Morris and Anthony Greene have benefited a ton and looked good in the ring with him.

Still find it weird as hell he ended up in the N-1, as he was never a major guy when I followed ICW before BritWres went to s***.

Shota Umino also defeated Yota Tsuji in a Strap Match I swear, I read that at first as "Slap Match". And now I want the slap equivalent of Taichi/Ibushi's Kick Match from a few G1s ago.

Been doing this for more than 30 years, has held the IWGP, GHC, AND the Triple Crown titles, not to mention the NWA and MLW world titles, and that's not even getting onto his ton of tag team success. All of that, yet he seems to be pretty humble.

Well that and not dropping the Triple Crown to Suwama because he had beef with him at the time. But eventually that was solved too.
