CDs
I guess I should say that I don't explicitly buy them to collect them, as much as I buy them to find new stuff that I am into. It's hard to explain, but the act of purchasing a CD helps me make sure that I give it the benefit of listening to several times instead of skipping around or giving it a singular listen. I've found a lot of great bands by shelling out a couple bucks for a used CD.
Lego
Not so much anymore, but I will occasionally see an old set listing on eBay that I will get, but in the last few years, a lot of those sets are becoming incredible expensive. There are a few new sets I occasionally purchase, but those are limited to the huge modular sets, if they tickle my fancy.

I've been collecting Retro Video games for a few months now. My favorite thing to currently collect is the older Atari aged stuff, mostly because they're so cheap, I have around 50 games and they cost me well under $100.

Books about royalty. Mainly Tudors, Plantagenets, Victoria, Mary Queen of Scots, Marie Antoinette and Louis XIV.
Horror movie dvds/blu rays
'90s rock CDs
Funko pops, though I've narrowed my focus to mostly MCU and Harry Potter, as they adorn my nerdy little shelves.
Thankfully, outside of the pops, the majority of my haul comes from thrift shops, Goodwills and eBay. Makes collecting not so expensive, and the thrill of the hunt (and the find!) is always fun.

Star Wars Christmas ornaments. Every year I go into Hallmark and drop a few hundred on this seasons releases. I get the special release Hallmark ones from comic con and Star wars celebration. I have probably a couple hundred of them at this point.
Btw I don't put up a Christmas tree. They just go into a box in the basement.

Oh yeah some of the limited edition ones that are a few years old are over 1k now. Granted you can list anything for a price, having a buyer is another thing

I've found a lot of great bands by shelling out a couple bucks for a used CD. I am similar. I dont collect CDs. But in the past decade I have bought almost 200. Mostly cause Family Dollar and DOllar General had CDs for 5 bucks or less. Then the local thrifts and pawn shops had them for a buck. Replaced lots of albums I bought in high school. Even tracked down an old CD case that holds 70 cds in the original cases. Cause I hate CD wallets. Got most of my CDs in my car. Cause that is where I mostly listen to music. IT was thanks to a dude that posted here often in the horror thread I got back into buying CDs. Sicne about 2004 I was just pirating music. Then that poster,Adam somethng, was telling me about all the good deals he was finding on CDs. Oddly my GF is into collecting records. I say oddly cause by the time she was born records were out and cassettes and CDs were the popular formats. Now my turntable and my 40 or so records are at her place. Along with the stack of albums she has bought over the last decade.

^ The problem with vinyls is obviously not being able to listen on the go, which was the selling factor of cassettes and CDs when I was growing up.
The other thing that I don't like nowadays is it's become the hipster way to listen to music, and vinyl as a result has become an expensive hobby.
And considering my car can almost duplicate the feel of any vinyl, why would I ever choose vinyl over CD?
