Holy shit, I didn't see they came back. I still have to wonder if the Bruins can hold this up all season, but they're putting a shitload of points in the bank right now. I had them as my pick in the East among the older teams to finally slip and just barely miss the playoffs, but pretty soon they'll have enough of a cushion that even if they're mediocre for a couple of months they'll still be in good shape.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Going into the season, I saw they had improved their lineup but with injuries I was simnply hoping they'd tread water until Thanksgiving when Marchand/McAvoy/Gryzlik were all supposed to be healthy but 2 of the 3 are already back and McAvoy, their best Defenseman looks to be a week or so away. Ullmark, aside from last night has been a beast and the caching change, which I wasn't keen on at the time, seems to have sparked something. Is it sustainable? Not at the pace they're at, no. But as of today, I do think they make the playoffs and I think they're a scary matchup come then.

I'm waiting for the bottom to fall out with the Devils. Like they got out to a great start a couple of seasons ago only to completely nosedive by the midpoint. But I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts.

I'm waiting for the bottom to fall out with the Devils. Like they got out to a great start a couple of seasons ago only to completely nosedive by the midpoint. But I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts. It's not bullshit so far: this start is very different to this point. A lot of previous seasons they've gotten to ride some all-too-briefly hot goaltending at the start of the year, or won a handful of OT games to keep the record looking strong, but right now but just about every single metric they are absolutely killing it. They've been controlling possession, they generate tons of shots, just as importantly they limit their opponents to a shockingly low number of shots, and unlike the last few seasons the defense is deep enough and has the horses to keep things strong and set up a deadly transition game. Doesn't mean they're ready to be in the elite of the league, they still have a lot of prove and 7/8ths of the season left to go, but they're a young team that's grown a lot. Their 5-on-5 play last year was actually pretty ridiculously good, especially for a team that finished so low in the standings; goaltending and an anemic power play killed them. Now they look stronger, have even more depth, and the goaltending is doing just enough while the defense is making their lives significantly easier. The East is still insane so far, so some good teams will end up missing the playoffs, but this is as good as I've felt in ages that the Devils might actually be one of those good teams instead of getting wins with smoke and mirrors.

Bruins signed a player with a very controversial history of doing horrible things.

Bruins signed a player with a very controversial history of doing horrible things. That ratio for the tweet says it all. When people are ratioing the official team's Twitter like that, the Bruins definitely screwed up by doing this. I hope they lose all their games the rest of the season.

How bad can he be?
*looks up*
Oh. Oh God.
Bettman said he's currently not eligible to play in the NHL. And to say the Bruins players are cold about this would be an understatement.

Western Canada was a peaceful place, but then the Devils' plane touched down in Vancover earlier in the week and they all started hearing boss music. This team is for real, and back on top of the Metro for another day.

Well bruins may be making awful personal decisions but my beloved Knights are currently sitting atop the NHL standings throne

The Bruins have announced that they’ve parted ways with Mitchell Miller. www.tsn.ca/boston-bruins-release-mitchell-miller-1.1874409It makes you wonder why they even went through with this ordeal in the first place. There’s no way they were caught off-guard by the overwhelmingly negative reaction by the fans, they had to know this was going to be an unpopular signing in the first place. There’s two possible scenarios, both of which reflect horribly on the Bruins’ front office — they thought the fans wouldn’t care, or they thought they could spin the story to the point that the fans forgot about it. EDIT — And this morning, we appear to have our answer, courtesy of Cam Neely. How did they butcher this so badly? How did they think the fans would go along with this? They had all the positive vibes of a 10-1-0 start, and now this is the story that's dominating headlines. What a fiasco that they entirely brought upon themselves.

Not just the fans (and good on them for decrying this) but the locker room. Bruins players including leaders like Patrice Bergeron wanted nothing to do with him. Maybe if he ever displayed any sort of remorse or desire to atone for his actions, I'd be more willing to say "give him a second chance." But he seems completely unrepentant.
Devils winning back to back against the Flames was really nice.

Apparently the Bruins jersey sponsor also complained about the signing.

Juraj Slafkovsky gets two games for almost killing a guy.
That was the worst hit I've seen in a long, long time.

If Miller was smart, he’d want to never set foot in a locker room. Or on the ice again. Someone will show him what it’s like.

So this question may show my ignorance to the intricacies of hockey or medical anatomy but why is Kane out 3-4 months after getting his wrist cut by a skate blade?

So this question may show my ignorance to the intricacies of hockey or medical anatomy but why is Kane out 3-4 months after getting his wrist cut by a skate blade? He needed surgery and I'm guessing it caused major vein damage. I haven't read anything about an artery so I don't know. It's probably the length of time for the veins to heal and to make sure blood can pump through without getting clots, things like that. I haven't read anything about nerve damage but maybe there was. There might be issues with how he can hold a stick and shoot and stick handle, minor things like that too down the line. Maybe simple things like trying to grip something won't be allowed for a while. I haven't seen the clip, I can't. I had a teammate that cut his leg and bled like Clint Malarchuk and that junior goalie a couple years ago. I wouldn't recommend looking those up.
