I once wondered how practical and expensive it was to climb Everest, then spent the next 2 days doing a literal mountain of reading, and watching several multi hour documentaries about disasters and failed expeditions before I decided I'd gone far enough

Probably not the biggest rabbit hole, but the most recent was the Chernobyl disaster after watching the HBO miniseries. In the span of a month I read every Wikipedia article and most of the online sources, read two books, listened to four audiobooks and two podcasts, watched six documentaries, and a handful of urban exploration videos around Pripyat and Chernobyl.

Skirting the politics rule a bit here, but I'm hoping it'll be fine since I'm not mentioning specific people, issues or parties. I am obsessed with watching youtube videos of local city council drama. Oh my god, I have never seen so much little power go to peoples head so hard. Parks and Recreation was surprisingly accurate about that
