Let's post some fond memories of when horror games scared the shit out of us.
Resident Evil 7: This game was just generally scary but there are two parts that stand out to me. Firstly, the part when you acquire the hand and then turn around to see Eveline's feet before she runs away. And then you re-enter the room and there's a molded standing there. Made me jump.
Secondly, pretty much when you have to re-enter the basement and all the lights are out. I tapped out at that part on my second playthrough, lol.
RE8: House Beneviento. Yeah, not looking forward to going through that, again.
Project Zero 2/Fatal Frame 2: Most people say Broken Neck Woman. For me, it's the part where you have to find a little ghost girl hiding in a closet. You have to do it several times, too, and I had a feeling of dread every time I opened one.

I remember playing the first Silent Hill on my PS1 when my parents had to leave the house for a few hours, and getting to a part where you're in a locker room at the local school, and there's a banging from one locker, and when you open it a cat falls out and runs away out of view.
Then you hear/ halfway see the door open and close.
Found this incredibly unsettling for some reason.

Honestly, I'm just going to nominate the entirety of the original Silent Hill. That was one f***ed-up game.

I know it's not technically classified as survival horror, but Subnautica has scared the hell out of me on more than one occasion. The most memorable... There's a subplot in the game where you can find out what happened to the crew of the last ship that crashed on the same planet you did. Takes you through the ruins of three bases, with the last one being in a biome known as the Deep Grand Reef, about 425-630 meters down. I activated the beacon for this base and packed up for a trip in my Seamoth, thinking I could head down, grab what I needed, and be out before too long. The trip itself was smooth sailing. Parked near the base and went inside to scope out the territory, only to see... ...this bastard. Floating outside the window. Staring at me. I don't know how whoever did the model for the crabsquid managed it, but it felt like it was staring right through my screen at me. The fun thing about crabsquids is that they hate light. They will chase light, they will attack light, they will use EMP blasts to disable any light source shone on them. I was deep enough where I needed to rely on my flashlight to be able to see anything, so I couldn't avoid triggering him. Bastard floated outside the window the entire time, shutting off my flashlight every few seconds. This did not help my orientation at all. Ended up drowning. It took me three tries to actually explore that base, and each time, the bastard would float outside the window and stare.

Yeah, the cat scene in Silent Hill is definitely up there.
I'd say I never actually got scared as much as I just got depressed by some of the elements of that game.
The scene where Lisa realizes she's dead and blood starts running down her face, along with the music that is playing. It's quite sad.
The licker in RE2 that jumps through the window is annoying, but I just learned to run away from anything in a room that I'm not going to come back to.

Man... I really need to play the Silent Hill series again. I played 3 & 4 to completion. But remember very little.
Until Dawn is full of scary moments. Which is appropriate.
One that stands out is when you and your gf are in a cabin. She's half naked, suddenly a Wendigo busts in and kidnaps her. It's set up like in a slasher movie and you almost think nothings gonna happen... then BAM.

A whole lot of RE 7, especially much the early game stuff where you're trying to dodge Jack, and keep running into the creepy old lady, who I kept expecting to jump out at me.
The Tyrant stalking you in REmake 2. Just hearing those heavy boots nearby was enough to make me rethink whatever my plans were.

Nemesis is pretty bad in the 3 REmake as well, but Mr. X is nightmare feul.

Nemesis is pretty bad in the 3 REmake as well, but Mr. X is nightmare feul. Main problems with Nemi are that he's not stalking you long enough to really leave as much of an impact. Plus his shit with all the jumping around, and the tentacle that keeps tripping you up ends up becoming more annoying than scary. Compared the way Mr. X is always somewhere on the map which makes him feel more random, it's scarier than Nemi spider-zipping in and out of the map as you move about, since you just learn to expect him to spawn in again.

The f***ing Licker two-way mirror jump scare in Resident Evil 2. I haven't played many survival horror games. But bought off a buddy in 2000 a PS1 with a stack of games.RE2 was in that stack. It was late at night I was in a dark room player. The Licker jumped thru the mirror and I jumped out of my chair. And it is kind of survival horror, on the 2600 Haunted House. The noise it made when you died creeped me out as a kid.But I was 6 or so back then.
