I assume we're only talking pro wrestling though.

Front facelock, definitely a shoot staple, and apparently how many actual fights between wrestlers tend to end, probably in part since it's where it will get broken up, since people can move in without catching errant swings their way by mistake.

Masahito Kakihara in his NJPW run used a lying side headlock like the one in that MMA gif for his finisher.

Gorilla Monsoon explicitly told me on several occasions that no one ever beat anybody with a side headlock. I've beaten a few people with it. I once had a guy give up during the instructions. WILL YOU BE SERIOUS!

I actually saw it happen at a local indie show a few years ago. It was an absolute clusterf*** of an opener, and the guys seemed to be trying to work two completely different matches.
Finally, one guy grabbed a headlock, awkwardly took the guy to the mat (he didn’t seem to be fighting it, but he wasn’t cooperating either) and they went home.
It was bizarre.

Gorilla Monsoon explicitly told me on several occasions that no one ever beat anybody with a side headlock. But plenty of guys DID get beat after being Pearl Harbored early in the match when they least expected it. That phrase in itself might be considered un pc nowadays. Maybe anti Japanese, but you heard it a lot more then.
