So looking back on this feud. It's never mentioned. Clearly WWE is ashamed of this feud. We never got a talking head feature with Kai or Venis to get their thoughts on it. So what did everyone think of this? Was there a long term end game for this storyline? Or was Venis going to be the new John Bobbitt? Venis without his loaded weapon would make his gimmick irrelvant.

I wonder if the only reason Val Venis has [insert belief here we can't get into in detail] is because he thinks it also involves getting your wang chopped off with a katana and he refuses to let that happen to anyone.

I was 11 in 1998 and saying a word referring to male genitalia was the peak of comedy. Yet, even I thought this feud was dumb.

I’m still of the belief that Vince only made this feud to laugh hysterically at the slow motion reply of Yamaguchi-San chopping the massive sausage with the katana.

Hold on. You think this is worth a feature on the Network? Pardon me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Sorry about that. At tops, it could be mentioned in context of the Attitude Era. That's about it. Otherwise, racial stereotyping probably makes this undesirable to talk about now. And Val as we know him now probably isn't desirable to collaborate with. Edit: "Kai"? Oh man now I'm remembering the PTC Smackdown reviews that called Taka and Funaki "Kai and Tai." You sure this isn't another Embarrassed JR/2016 Alexa/etc.post?

I think the ending was the reveal that John Bobbit (yes really) turned off the lights before the sword hit Val Jr, saving him. He then broke up with Mrs. Yamaguchi (throwing her a battery) and the next week Kaientai beat Val in a gauntlet match. After that, nothing else came of this.

Last year, with the move to Peacock, WWE removed the locker room segment seen in the second gif from WWE Network. It closed the Aug. 3, 1998 Raw, and now the show ends right before they cut to that scene.
Oddly, though, everything else about the angle, such as the segment where Yamaguchi made the threat, Taka's heel turn, and the segment from Aug. 10 with John Bobbitt, is still available.

He then broke up with Mrs. Yamaguchi (throwing her a battery) and the next week Kaientai beat Val in a gauntlet match. After that, nothing else came of this. When I saw that segment (I was about 12 at the time), I had no idea who that guy was. I was like "who is he and why is he here?" I found out who John Bobbitt was a year later, but when I later read that he was the same guy who came out with Val Venis that night on Raw, I was like "WHAT THE HELL?!" Also, there was some resolution to that angle afterward when Val took on Kaientai in a gauntlet match on Heat (or maybe it was Raw, but I am sure it was Heat). He had his first loss when Taka pinned him. Then the following week (and I believe it was Heat), he came out after Taka won a match and taunted him, Yamaguchi-san, and Mrs. Yamaguchi-san one last time. Then it showed Mrs. Yamaguchi-san smiling at him, insinuating that she still had a thing for him. Of course, nothing came of that and the woman was gone not long after.

After the gauntlet Val Venis got his heat back by shooting a white liquid from a flesh coloured super soaker all over Kaientai.
So yay for cross promotion.

I don't think they had longterm ideas for most of the main event storylines, much less anything else on the card.

I remember hearing that this storyline was Shane's first attempt at booking anything, but I'm sure Vince was still laughing hysterically.

Too bad it's coming from a sexual abuser piece of shit in his own right in Brandon Stroud.
