While we're on the subject of MJF's use of "Sympathy For the Devil" (outside the detail of Punk and MJF's last interaction before their most recent match was all about "the devil") anyone else make this connection -
(could be sheer coincidence as I have OCD and work in radio so I'm music-brained BUT)
The opening percussion to "Sympathy for the Devil" sounds very similar to the very opening of Barry Manilow's "Copa Cabana" and the lights that came up when the devil walked out were red and yellow (Colt's non-Dark Order entrance light colors).
Thought that might have been a nice red herring to think having Colt as the devil in Chicago would have been an appropriate twist.

Bummed out he didn't keep Sympathy for the Devil because it's a great theme and his normal theme is incredibly boring It's one of my favorite songs of all time, but just doesn't fit as a wrestling theme at all to me...same way I feel about Jane as it has no impact playing over the speakers and has the same momentum as Rob Conway's theme....

My brain works the same way (I used to work in radio and remain very music brained as well) But for me it was the subtle allusions via song lyrics (not just the call back to Max being the Devil) “I’m a man of wealth and taste…” Shit, that’s Max’s whole deal right there.

Also wondering if he's going to keep using Sympathy for the Devil since he used his regular theme the second time
I assume that getting that song was no easy task, I think MJF would now use it as a main event but I guess we'll see...

Really not missed him at all, and not really a fan of the idea of just throwing him straight into likely winning the belt especially given how much Wardlow got f***ed over in the crossfire of it, but at least this is a lot more interesting of a direction to lean toward than what his initial promo seemed to be setting up. Given how Tony books, this was all to build to Wardlow beating Max for the title next year. Hell, Punk was even the one who got Wardlow to break free of MJF. It's definitely gonna happen at some point in 2023. And I feel like they'll make good on the lackluster DoN match.

I really hope the use of Sympathy isn’t a one off. But I fear it might be. The Stones don’t come cheap.

I think after all of this tonight, the only proper takeaway is...
Who the f*** is MJF? What part of the media scrum was he in?

So we running back the Pinnacle? Big Cass is hired muscle. Beats him up and the rest turn face or something?

More Heenan Family than Pinnacle Morrissey is the obvious hoss heater, but Ethan Page imo fits with MJF like a glove, Gunn Club are goons, Lee Moriarty's a very interesting piece who provides technical ability none of the others have

I really hope the use of Sympathy isn’t a one off. But I fear it might be. The Stones don’t come cheap. It's significantly cheaper to just license a song's publishing (lyrics and composition) than it is to license a song's publishing and recording, so if it does return I think it'll be a re-recording of it - which could be really cool to add some personalized touches to it.

Urgh. This is even worse than Drew losing!
Well, not quite that bad. But still.

I know things are crazy around here and I don’t want to get anyone riled up…,
But Sympathy For The Devil is like my least favorite Stones song from when they were good. It just drones on and on. Thumbs down on that choice…
Now, if they gave Hangman “Dead Flowers”….

Well I for one have missed him.
At the very least he provides some nice eye candy, and has one of the best asses in wrestling. Can't hate on that.

I enjoyed it. I think if I was to do it over again, I think you play Sympathy for the Devil AFTER the main event, then go into the video and then back to MJF on the stage. But it was really well done and Punk/MJF will be a good one.

Using Sympathy for the Devil was a genius move. You couldn't use MJF's actual theme, obviously, but you wanted something that would make a statement. Lyrically it fits MJF perfectly and he's basically paraphrased the lyrics in his promos and his gimmick. It was both completely MJF and not MJF at the same time. I think it will be a one-off because it served its purpose as a theme for the Joker.

I also wonder where they go from here - is MJF a leader of a group with Stokley and company? Or is it that MJF and Stokely are one thing, and then Stokely has his family separate from MJF? I hope it's the former. I don't think guys like Page get much from being associated with MJF.
